I am from a long line of Tilburns from North Yorkshire. We live in the small market town of Boroughbridge which is in actual fact only 12 miles from Harrogate. My family have lived in Boroughbridge for hundreds of years. Do you have any information about how your father may be related. My Grandfather was a Jack Tilburn, he married a Marjorie Dodsworth. He had a sister called Elizabeth, known as Cissie.

My husband passed away two years ago and as he was an
only child I have no one to contact re personal history. I do know his family came from Harrogate, moved to Glossop in Derbyshire. He emigrated with his parentswhen he was 11 to Canada. Returned just before 1939 and was unable to return. His grandfather was John and he married an Elizabeth maiden name unknown. His father was Harry and married Alice Maud Whitehead. As far as I know we were the only Tilburns in the telephone book both in Blackpool and here in Canada. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
