I am looking for any information on the Tigg family who lived in and around Petersfield, Hampshire.
I am particularly interested in the family of Elizabeth Tigg who was born in Petersfield around 1842. I have found references to Tiggs in Froxfield, Steep, Buriton and Petersfield and suspect that these families are all related somehow.
Can anyone help with more details about any Tiggs in the Petersfield area?
Also, I am interested in finding out about the history of Honeycritch Cottage, Honeycritch Lane, Froxfield, where Elizabeth Tigg (widow aged 66years) lived with her 2 sons -William 28years & Robert 26years (both agricultural labourers) at the time of the 1881 census. Please E-mails me if you have any information. Thanks.

My father John William George Tigg born 1921 was the son of William Tigg who came from Alton Hampshire. Alas my father died at the age of sixty only a few years after his father so I cannot ask him for any more details but I do know that William had several sisters. He probably was the son of one of the brothers, William and Robert that you mention in your search details.I hope this little bit of information might help you in your search. It is a subject that has fascinated me for a long time and I wish I had asked my father and grandfather more about themselves when they were still alive. wise after the event! There are a couple of other Tiggs living on the Isle of Wight where this branch of the family live but I have never been in touch with them. Alas John was the last in this line because my sister and I had no brothers, but his genes live on in my sons who are the spitting image of him, very tall, very dark and very handsome!
I would loveto hear from you with regard to the Tigg family history that you have discovered perhaps you could email me. good luck with your search regards Caroline Wakerley
