Isaac Tiffany (b1830) branch Michigan question

Hello, I am trying to get as much information as I can about my Tiffany lineage, there is mostly a stoppage after my great grandfather Elmer Andrew Tiffany (b. 1892 d 1977), which obviously makes no sense, the name just didn't randomly attach itself to him. My research says Elmer's dad was allegedly Calvin H Tiffany and his mother was definitely Sarah Jane Root,(Tiffany?Braley) b 1867 but I cannot find anything concrete. Obviously at some point Sarah Jane must have either gotten married to a Tiffany or had a lengthy out of wedlock relationship.

I usually come across Calvin H Tiffany's two wives Sudie B and Harriet Tunison (sp), but I came across a 1900 census where Sarah J was living with her parents and listed as Sarah J Tiffany 33, divorced, and then her son Elmer.

Can anyone shed any info of Calvin H Tiffany and his possible 1894 marriage in Ionia County Michigan?

While this is not my line, I was able to find some things of interest that I believe may be of help in your search. (1) Elmer Tiffany & Linnie Stafford were married in Big Rapids, Mecosta, MI on April 21, 1913. On that record, Elmer's parents were listed as Parm Tiffany and Sarah J. Root. (2) There is a divorce record for Parmer Tiffany and Sarah J. Tiffany in the Eaton, MI county records. It indicates that they were married Sept 24, 1887, in Grand Ledge, MI, and divorced July 12, 1897. The reason was listed as cruelty. There were two children born to the marriage. (3) There is a death record for Parmer Tiffany, indicating what he was born in 1853 in Fulton, OH, to John Tiffany and Sally Paul. He died in Hillsdale, MI, on Aug 6, 1932. (4) There is a death record for Elsie Pierce, born to "Palmer" Tiffany and Sarah J. Root on July 4, 1888 in Eaton, MI, who died on Jan 1, 1949. There is also a marriage record for Elsie Tiffany in Eaton, MI, dated July 6, 1904, with parents listed as Palmer Tiffany and Jennie Root. (5) The census records for Parmer/"Palmer" Tiffany indicate that he was living with his sister and her family (Ralph Willcutt & Hattie) in Eaton, MI. Their mother, Sally (Tiffany) Bostoff, was living with them. Sally Tiffany had married John Bostoff in 1875 in Lenawee. There is record of a second marriage for Harriet (Tiffany) Willcutt, dated 1917, indicating her parents as John Tiffany and Sally Paul. In 1910, Parmer Tiffany was living with another sister and her family (Milo Wilson & Nancy) in Hillsdale, MI. In both census records, Parmer was listed as being divorced. I believe that this will help you in your research ... at least I hope so. All of these records can be found on the web at a variety of sites including familysearch.org.

Yes, thank you for that amazing reply. I had actually dropped the Calvin H connection and had learned of Palmer via a living relative. But your research adds some great facts that I appreciate.

I take it you have not connected your Tiffany lineage back to anyone in the book "Tiffanys of America - History and Genealogy." Do you have a lineage of your Tiffanys that I could have? I'm sort of the "unofficial" keeper of anything TIFFANY.

I think we have it now

from Elmer Andrew Tiffany 1892-1977 (great grandfather) born in Michigan (m. Linney Stafford), it goes:

Palmer (Parmer) Tiffany 1857-1932 b. Fulton County Ohio (m Sarah Jane Root 1887, Harriet Rector, 1903)

John G Tiffany* 1808-? b. Fulton, Morrow Ohio (m. Sally M Paul, before 1842).

Chandler Tiffany 1782-1845. b. Mt. Pleaseant, Wayne County Pennsylvania (m. Lydia Perkins)

John Tiffany 1747-1825 b. Attleboro Massachusetts (m. Ruth Clapp)

John Tiffany 1710-1788 b Attleboro Mass. (m. Deliverance Parameter)

James Tiffany 1666-1732 b Milton, Wilfolk, Mass (m. Elizabeth (Bethiah) Fuller)

Humphrey Tiffany 1630-1685 b. Middlesex England

It goes back even further into England and I believe France as Tiffany researchers already know. I had a hard time tracking down Elmer's father to get this going, but I was given a tip from a living relative and it is indeed Palmer. Elmer's son is Keith E Tiffany (grandad,1915-1977) and his son was Charles Leonard Tiffany (father, 1941-1984)

*Note, often public trees and some records have John A Tiffany b 1807 and died in Seattle Washington), here, there are public records that point to John G Tiffany b 1808, brother of Palmer (b 1822) and father of Palmer (noted above b. 1857). John G Tiffany is said to have died in the Midwest, either in Fulton Ohio, or Hillsdale Michigan. His profile fits the record of our

Just going from private family conversations I have picked up through the years, there seems to be a Wisconsin connection to our branch of Michigan Tiffany's that I have not been able to track down.

And any further cementing of John G Tiffany to his alleged, but probable father Chandler, or his children (John William b1853, Archie 1855, Palmer 1857, Nancy Irene 1861, Harriet Jane 1863 and Anson 1867) would be greatly appreciated.
