Jules (Julius) Tieche was born in Switzerland (probably Berne Canton) in 1836. He and his family, wife Rosine, son Paul Ernst age 12, son Alcide (Alsied) age 10, daughter Martha (Mattie) age 5, and son Auguste age 1, arrived in Philadelphia in May 1880. From there the family moved to Wayne County, Ohio where Paul Ernst married Anna Addessah Gochnauer about 1890. Looking for any information on the Tieche family in this country and in Europe. Thanks. Vicki Tieche

I have a great aunt Bertha McEwen Tieche who married a Ceasar Augustus Tieche. They married in Wayne Co. Ohio and moved to the Seattle Area. Bertha died in 1922 and he remarried and lived until 1952. If you go to FindaGrave.com and enter their names the gravesites will be shown.

Tieche is quite a common surname in Reconviler, Switzerland, like Smith. Reconvilier was part of Berne Canton, but is now part of Jura. It is largely French and predominantly Catholic, which may have been the reason for my great-great grandfather emigrating to the USA, since Berne is predominantly Protestant.

My great great grandfather was Alfonse Tieche,( pronounced Tea-esh if you're French or Tie-shh of you're german). His father was Paul Tieche. I know nothing about either.
