I am researching the company of Capt Henry Tiebout in the American Revolution. I would like to locate any of his papers, muster books, letters, etc. that would help in this research. My ancestor served in his company for the six and a half years it existed. I hope to write up a complete account of the company's service for my descendants and perhaps for publication. Any help or suggestions of contacts would be greatly appreciated. Henry was the son of Teunis and Elizabeth (Lamb) Tiebout and brother of George Tiebout who also fought in the Revolution. I am very willing to share information that I have that would be of interest.

I came accross your message tonight so I am sending a reply to see if you were successful in gathering any information on Capt Tiebout. I am also a descendant of the Tiebout's. My mother was Mary (Tiebout) Blair. She was the daughter of Charles Ralph Tiebout Sr. and Anna Hester Campbell. For reference, Charles Ralph Tiebout was born May 4, 1882 and died May 31, 1971. Charles Ralph Tiebout Sr. was a son of Charles Tiebout Jr. and Sara Vernon.

I would also be interested in any information you might have on Henry and George Tiebout that you might want to share. Additionally, have you gathered any information on on Pvt. George Henry Tiebout who was kileed in action at Big Bethel, Va., June 10, 1861 at the 1st land battle of the Civil War? He was the son of Cornelius Tiebout. Cornelius was a son of the Revolutionary George you mention below.

Hope to hear from you sometime. Alan Blair

sorry not to reply sooner. I am really researching Capt Tiebout's company in the New York Continental Line rather than Henry Tiebout himself. I am descended from a private in his company. I put in the query in hopes of finding someone who could let me know if there are any records of Henry's pertaining to his service as Captain and kept by a descendant. I hope to someday write a book about the experiences of his company - Jan 1777 through the end of the war in 1783 and any personal records would be of great help. My ancestor served with him the whole six and half years.

One reason I did not reply sooner is that I am currently working on another project related to the Revolution so have been away from my Capt Tiebout research for quite a while.

Thank you for your reply to my query.
