I am in a little town right in the middle of Washington State. Quincy to be exact. In our cemetery today when the civil war and veterans etc. where there a person pointed out that Henry H. Tidd was buried there. They said he was in the civil war. On his tombstone it reads, Henry H. Tidd, Company A 1st Ohio, La. In the civil war records it says a Henry H. Tidd, enlisted 25 September 1861. He was age 19 and served in the Union army. If you find this is your family and if you would like a picture of his tombstone I would be glad to get you one.

In reply to Ms Adams message board. This could be the Henry H. Tidd I am looking for, however, my ggrandfather would probably have been older in 1861 than the information you gave. He was born in Ohio so if he was in the Civil War it could be he served in an Ohio unit. Does his tombstone have birth and death dates? I will do some checking on the unit to see what I can find. I can be contacted at imbutler@aol.com.

Re: Descendants of William Tidd
Carole, I have been researching William Tidd of Bath County in connection to the Robert Scott family. Family tradition reports that Robert Scott married Elizabeth Tidd daughter of William Tidd. She was born in 1890. They were married in about 1808.I have found the census that shows William K. Tidd was born in Rockbridge County and a land transaction that showed William Tidd was in Rockbridge County before 1900. The Robert Scott family was living fairly close to the William Tidd family in the 1820 and 1830 censuses. Robert's son John Scott lived close to John "Jack" Tidd in Pocahontas County in 1840. But I have found no direct connection. I would really appreciate any information about the Tidds in Virginia that you could share with me. Hope to hear from you. Barb Scott

Re: Descendants of William Tidd
K.M. Do you happen to have any information about an Elizabeth Tidd who married Robert Scott? She is supposed to be the daughter of William Tidd of Rockbridge and then Bath County. Family tradition reports that she was born in 1890 and that she married Robert Scott in about 1808. The Robert Scott family did live close the William Tidd family in Bath County in 1820 and 1830. In 1840 Robert Scott's son John Scott lived close to John "Jack" Tidd in Pocahontas County. I would really like to find a direct connection between Elizabeth and the Tidd family if one exists. Would really appreciate any help that you could give me. Barb Scott

I am the Graves registrar for the West Michigan “Sons of the Union Veterans” organization and I saw your post. I have a page on my Faded Footsteps website with images from Lowell, Michigan of Henry H. Tidd’s marker. The marker clearly shows the CO A, 1st Ohio markings and our SUV documentation indicates the information to be correct. Feel free to “Right Click” on the images and download them to your computer. Call me if you need any other images as I live in Lowell, Michigan and can visit the cemetery easily. Warm regards, Alan Teelander 616-634-3296

Re: Descendants of William Tidd
My goodness, this is many years after your post. William K (born 1781) was my great, great, great grandfather. His son Wm K, had a son Wm J who married Ada Mae Farrington. They had three children: Helen Janet, my grandmother who married John Hailstone Baxter and two sons: William Russell and Robert Farrington. I wish I knew more about the relationship to Virginia. My Grandmother was born in Taylor, PA and after my father was born, the family moved to Utica, NY. Any information is greatly appreciated. I'd be happy to share too....
