I am hoping to find information on Augustus C. Tidbury and his wife Marie, who were in Borneo before World War II and who were both interned at Batu Lintang Camp, Kuching, Sarawak. All information would be most gratefully received. Many thanks.

Hi, I read your post of May this year and think that these names belong to my husband's family tree. A researcher called Pat Straughan passed this info onto me.
Augustus Charles T was born New Swindon Hamps 1878, and was living Hornsey, London with his parents Henry (engine fitter) and mother Elizabeth in 1881 census. I think that this Henry is the brother of my husband's gt grandfather Charles Tidbury b Froxfield Wilts in 1834. Henry was born 1832. If you haven't already got all this I would be happy to share info with you - I have some details on their parents. Best wishes Mary Tidbury

Hi Mary - thanks for the information. I can't contact you directly as I'm a registered guest rather than a subscriber, and so they won't let me have your email details. I have a little bit of information about Marie and Augustus which you might like - you can contact me at batulintang@btinternet.com if you are interested.

Hi, I sent you an email but it came back! Would love to hear more on Augustus. His father Henry was the brother of my husband's gt grandfather Charles Tidbury b1834 Froxfield. I have Charles and Henry's parents and grandparents if you don't already have them.

best wishes
Mary

Hi, not sure why the email didn't work - I checked I'd typed the address ok and it's correct. Never mind. There's some info on the Tidburys here http://www.roll-of-honour.org.uk/civilians/html/t_database_1... Very sad. Marie died in the camp and the Japanese wouldn't let her husband even kiss her when she was dying as they felt it wasn't proper. My interest is in the people who were in the camp, rather than the Tidbury family in general, so if you come across any more information on Augustus and Marie, I'd love to hear it. Cheers.
