I am looking for information on my great great grandmother Katherine Tichacek (Sperl) born around 1851. Her parents were John and Katherine Tichacek. She was married to Jacob Sperl my great great grandfather. My grandfather John Sperl born 2/28/1878 was born in Oprechtice Region Domazlice Czech. I'm wondering if they changed names etc. Last known address in 1937 for Katherine Tichacek Sperl was Na Plani #32 Kout na Sumave Czech

You're welcome.
I do not but that information should be in the church records. Look in LDS-Mormons [Family History Center] site for church records of your ancestral village.

Thank you. I did check there but they did not seem to have any records. I wondered if they changed their name as I cannot find a connection to the Tichacek Sperl's . Thank you so much for your help.

The church records would be indexed by a village and then religion. Did you look for a surname or a location?

I see by another post that the feminine ending of last name is ova. I found a letter 1937 that lists two great aunts. One was Ella Sperlova(also called Barbara) and the other Amy? Sperlova. Ella's address was Assoc of Caretakers London St #48 Prague #12 Czech. There were no letters after that so I looked through the list of Holocaust survivors but did not see her. I don't know if either married or survived after the war.Katherina was 84 in 1937 according to the letter with her address of Kout na Sumave.Any ideas? Thanks again

Yes, OVA just specifies it is a female.

Were your ancestors Jewish?
Was the address in English or you had it translated into English?

There are several SPERLOVAs in Praha's phone book:

No they were not Jewish to my knowledge. Catholics.
My neighbor speaks and writes Czech and translated it for me.
I really appreciate all your help. My daughter plans to come over to Czech this summer and I want to come next year after I do more tracking. I was hoping to find lost relatives. The letter in 1937 was addressed to my grandfather and they were all concerned about them during and after WW 11. I also found a picture from a cousin Joseph dated 1898 taken in Austria addressed to my grandfather Sperl but don't know which side of the family it would be.
