I am trying to find out where the Ticer family originated. My father is Robert Ticer, son of Earl Ticer, from Brownsville,TX. He has never looked into it but said he always assumed we were German. Is this true? Would like to know my bloodline and would appreciate any help. Thanks

Cousin ?

My father is Robert Dale Ticer; Mother Susan Lynn Stanley. My Father's parents: earl and Evelyn Ticer, of Brownsville Texas. This side of the family I cannot trace. I believe Evelyn's father was a Weaver. But I am interested to know what nationality TICER is.. Don't know if I'm A cousin, lynchs. I have lots!

My mother was a Ticer. She did a great deal of geneology. I can tell you that the Ticers' were huganouts and yes from Germany. They were being persecuted in Germany for their religion. They fled to France and eventually sailed with LaFeat. They jumped ship perhaps in North Carolina, I think. So, then the French Gov was looking for them. The three brothers changed their name to Ticer. Therefore, all Ticer's in this country decended from one of the three brothers. So, we are all related. My grandfather's name was Calvin Ticer. His daddy's name was Amos. I hope this has helped. I'll try to go through some of my mother's geneolgy and share more.

Surnames: Ticer, Tysor, Tessier
As far as I know, Ticer may be a derivative of Tessier which is French. Another possible spelling is Tysor. Augustine Ticer's (whom I am descended from) grandfather Lewis, came here from either France or Portugal with two other brothers during colonial times and settled in Virginia territory. The elder Lewis Tysor had three sons; Lewis, Alfred and another I don't know the name of. Lewis migrated to Chatham NC and Alfred to the West. The nameless one stayed in Virginia. My research indicates that Lewis Tysor (Ticer) Jr. is the father of Augustine in Chatham, NC.

Do you know if Calvin had a brother named Amos? My great granddad was named AMOS also. He had 2 sons and a daughter. Lloyd "Lee", they called him Blacky, Fleming Laughette (they called him L.F) and daughter they called Sissy.
