Yes Daniel Tice was my Great Grandfather, and I have been at a dead end for years. Have you read the letters that James Tice wrote during the War?

Yes, I donated James Riley's letters to the Va Tech library and the Tice family Bible to the state library in Richmond. We searched the state archives with no success.

Incidentally, some of my deceased cousins were of the opinion that Martha Sumpter was Laban's mother but no hard evidence has been found to substanciate that theory and not many potential Tice fathers were around . We wondered if Laban was Polly Tice's illegitimate son raised by her niece Martha.

It may have been one of Mannassah's sons and Abraham is the most likely candidate but he married Polly Sumpter and moved to Ohio around the time Laban was born. Martha was Polly's aunt. I've resigned that there will be no record of his parentage ever found. I have googled every possible spelling of Laban with no results. His marriage license spelled his name as Layburn.
Ihave corresponded with troy Tice (a relative of yours?)in Florida and they have no more than we have.
