OOOO
This sounds promising!
My great grandfather Thomas Thyn(n)e was born in Miltown Co Clare abt 1844. He married Margaret Gannon (of Tuam Co Galway b 1847)at St Alipius Church in Ballarat in 1868.
They went on to have Michael Patrick Annie Mary Margaret Thomas John Catherine Bartholomew (my grandfather) and Bridget.
Thomas died at Mt Egerton in 1923

I am researching this family on behalf of a close friend who is a great (great?) grand-daughter of Patrick Thynne. Any information gratefully received. To start with, how is the name pronounced? Rhymes with pin or pine?

just stumbled apon this thread. I am looking for Thynne family members from Co Clare also. I don't think I am connected with those listed though.

I have John Patrick Thynne (b.1835) , came to Tasmania in 1856 with his widowed mother Ann(e) and younger brother Martin (8yo). Martin disappears once arriving in Tas but John, who was sponsored by a Bridget Conway moves to the North of the state. I have no idea where in Co Clare they came from as they sailed from London on the 'Persian'. If anyone can help in anyway it would be appreciated.
