Thwaits/Twaits of Ohio/Indiana
My husband's grandfather was Robert Edward Thwaits. His Gr Grandfather was James Edward Thwaits (Twaits). Robert was born in Indiana about 1898. He married Edna Parker. I have come across another James Twaits who had a son named Benjamin. These 2 James are probably the same person but the James with the son Benjamin was born in Ohio. Benjamin was born in norther Indiana about 1873. Three of James sons had the middle initial E. (Edward). I'm looking for any information on Twaits/Twhaits in Indiana or Ohio.

Re: Thwaits/Twaits of Ohio/Indiana
I am looking for an Edward Thwaits - we believe he was in Wisconsin and died in Corpus Christi, Tx around 1849. His wife is unknown - he had 2 sons : James whom I know nothing else about and William Edward - born in 1842 in British Hollow, Grant, Wisconsin - died May 13, 1912 in Silver City, Grant, NM. Married Margaret Ann Kennedy 23 Dec, 1875 in Bryan, Brazos, Texas. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Thwaits/Twaits of Ohio/Indiana
I have so many Thwaits/Twaits with the first or middle name of Edward, that I feel there is probably a match somewhere along the line. Do either of you know who Edward's parents were? I'd love to make a connection.

Re: Thwaits/Twaits of Ohio/Indiana
Still looking? I have collected a little more about Edward, James and William Thwaits in WI, TX and NM. I am a great-grandson of William. William's mother was Hannah (Petty?) born in Wick-on-Eton, England about 1816. She is enumerated in 1860 Census as Hannah HAM, keeper of a boarding house in Port Isbell, Cameron, TX. Sons James and William, and daughter Mary Thwaits are there also. She also shows in the 1880 Census in central TX.

Re: Thwaits/Twaits of Ohio/Indiana
There are 3 main Thwaits families in the 1800's in the US. One settled mainly in Indiana and Ohio..... this is the family that I'm researching. Another Thwaits family settled in New York, and the 3rd settled mostly in the southwest.
There are several people who posted under my original posting who are interested in the 'south west' Thwaits families.
