Surnames: Hitchcock
I am searching for the John Hitchcock born in London sometime in the 1740's. He was convicted of stealing and was shipped to Williamsburg VA on the Convict Ship Tayloe. He was married with children when he was sent away. There is no mention of any names, but in 1772 his wife "was sick and his large family was getting smaller" based on his trial records. He would have been about 30 in 1772. His crime took place where he worked at the Amicable Society - which was a life insurance company I believe. It was located on Bedford Street. His wife could be Eleanor Allerton and his father possibly William. It is said he had a brother come to the US as well. He is a Robert or a George possibly. Please let me know if anyone has any information on John Hitchcock who left London in1772.
