Robert THWAITES - Barnard Castle, Durham, England

I am searching for information on Robert THWAITES, who made the grandfather clock my parents own. It was made in Barnard Castle, probably in the early 1800s. I find his name in trade directories for 1823 and 1827, but that is about all I have so far. FreeBMD lists a Robt. Thwaites' death in Teesdale in 1845 and this may be him. If anyone could possibly do a lookup in the 1841 Barnard Castle census, it would be a great help to me. I am trying to document the history of the clock and its maker for my parents, who are getting on in years! Any help is appreciated.

LOL - thanks for the information. The tree you referred to is mine! ;-) As you can see, my original query was 7 years ago and I've gone a ways since then. I've always hoped I could find a descendant so that they could see the clock, which my father gave to me last year, but so far I have not found any. I also posted a video of it on YouTube to showcase its clanging, primitive bell.
Thanks again,
Kathy
