Mrs. Emma “Emy” Lander Thublin, born March 1, 1913, in Robertsdale, Ala., died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Thublin was raised in Robertsdale and was a longtime resident of Mobile. She was a lifelong member of Little Flower Catholic Church, was a Women’s Championship Basketball Player in the 1930’s and was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus F. Thublin Sr.; and one son, William “Bill” F. Thublin.
Survivors include two children, Ann Paulette Thublin of Mobile and Marcus “Tut” F. (Vonda) Thublin Jr. of Decatur; one granddaughter, Vicki Thublin (Tommy) Blankenship of Hartselle; two great-grandsons, Ryland Blankenship and Carson Blankenship, both of Hartselle; one stepgrandson, Bobby L. Smith of Decatur; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 1 p.m. from Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allen Memorial Home, 735 S. Washington Avenue, Mobile, AL 36603 or to your favorite church or charity.
