Can you please explain to me what , "He was New Hampshire" means. I'm not trying to be contrary, I don't understand. The sources I have found for Elihu, Samuel Thornton's father show: 1782, Providence, RI; 1800, Johnston, Providence, RI; 1850, Otsego, Otsego Co., NY; 1860, Waterloo, Jefferson Co., WI. Because he was born and lived in Rhode Island makes him New Hampshire? Can you elaborate please? Does this mean the Thornton's that located in Rhode Island were all from New Hampshire previous to Rhode Island? Thank you so much!
Karen
