William C. Thomas came to Texas in about 1848 with his wife Martha Catherine Richardson and his son, James Henry Francis Thomas. Martha died on the way--the story is that she perished on the Mississippi River.

I am trying to find information that links William C Thomas to James Henry Francis Thomas as father and son. There is an entry in the 1850 census that puts James Henry Francis with his father in DeWitt County Texas. But he appears in this same census a month later with his grandparents Thomas and Suzanna Richardson in Angelina County Texas.

I am James H.F. Thomas' great, great, grandson. I and my family have searched for decades to confirm that William C. Thomas is in fact James' father.
