One additional thought, it appears everything became so confrontational because theorists refused to admit there were a lot of missing pieces they needed to find. Instead they found not very likely ways around those and challenged others to prove them wrong. Some of their explanations need them to prove them right not us to prove them. That is not the way to win friends and influence people. People are not going to be intimidated into accepting something.
