I have a dead end. Here is what I have so far:
1. GEORGE W. GRIFFIN, born in Georgia and married MARGARET (MAGGIE) DAILEY on March 5, 1896. Margaret, the daughter of Phillip J. Dailey and Debbra Ann Thrailkill, married JOHN EDWARD THIGPEN on April 3, 1904. JOHN EDWARD THIGPEN was born on June 6, 1870 and died Sept. 16, 1920.
SOURCES:
-1900 census lists Maggie Griffin (daughter) and Fletcher Griffin (grandson) as living with her parents at 223 Chapel in Fulton County, Georgia. Maggie’s was listed as a widow with one child, born in May of 1871, age 29. It states that both she and her son were born in Georgia. Her occupation was listed as a tailoress. Fletcher Griffin was shown to be born in April 1896, age 4. Fletcher’s father was listed as being born in Georgia.
-1920 census shows John E. (50) married to Mary (45) and son Fletcher (25) living with them in Bibb County, Macon City, Georgia. John’s occupation is listed as meat cutter, Mary’s as tailoring, and Fletcher’s as policeman.
-Margaret’s death certificate, dated April 20, 1925, lists her name as “Mrs. J. E. (Maggie) Thigpen.” It lists her date of birth as Oct. 30, 1880 and her parents as P.J. Dailey and Debby Thrailkill
-Fulton County marriage license dated March 5, 1896 for Mr. George W. Griffin and Miss Maggie Daily.
-Fulton County marriage license dated April 3, 1904 for Mr. J.E. Thigpen and Miss Mary Griffin.
- Margaret and J.E. Thigpen are buried in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, section 14, lot #316. His headstone reads: J. Edward Thigpen, June 16, 1870 – Sept. 16, 1920, Jr. O.U.A.M. No.13. Hers reads: Margaret D. Thigpen, 1875 – 1935.
NOTE:
-Margaret is listed as Maggie in the 1900 and 1880 census’. Margaret in on Louis Fletcher’s death certificate, and Mary in 1920 census.
-No Griffin was listed in the Flatrock Cemetery.
