After obtaining an obituary of my husbands grandfather from Springfield, Mass. I learned that his parents were Adolph H Thiebe and Bertha (Koenn) Thiebe. when I researched further to obtain more information I put Adolph H Thiebe in under world search and 'soundex' he came up under Adolph H Thibe, with wife Bertha and 9 month old daughter Gertrud who traveled from Germany to America. On April 15, 1890 they arrived on the Werra Ship to New York.

Any further information of how the 'e' was added to name or was it orginally spelled wrong on the paperwork from Germany to America? It was an incredible discovery once I had Adolph and Bertha's names from one obituary, then to find out Gertrud came with them from Germany was a great help. And any great genealogy sites for Germany that anyone knows of would be a grand help right now...thank you!
