This is an old posting, but I here goes.....

My Great Grandfather was Lawrence William Burns b. 1854 in New York and moved to Iowa City when he was a boy.

He was married twice. First wife was Mary Downey. They had three children. The oldest was a girl named "Nellie" or Ellen. Ellen married a Theobald.

Lawrence's second wife was Mary McCune. They had 5 children. One of them was John Joseph Burns, who was my mother's Uncle. He lived in California for many years. According to my mother, when he got older he moved back to Iowa and lived with his half sisters, a couple of the Theobald girls.

I have a little more information regarding the Burns side. Please contact me if you get this, we might be able to untangle this a bit.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi Paul,
I received and replied to your e.mail you sent yesterday to my home bora64@icloud.com with a few notions of mine!

Dorothy lives in Long Melford and tends all the graves bless her!

I didn't know there were two churches in Long Melford. The only one I have been to is at the top of a hill/slope before you reach Melford Hall. I really need to have another look when I next visit my mum as she lives in Long Melford. Its such a lovely village.

I will be looking at the link to the Theobald list archives later today after work, and I knew about the builders but not looked at the website. which I will also do.

Many thanks for your information! Afraid I cannot offer much in return!

Debbie
Debbie,

I'm no longer in Suffolk, but my father was born in Long Melford and I have visited the churches and family graves several times. Both Holy Trinity and St Catherine's are important in the Theobald history.

If you look back through the Theobald list archives (http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/surname/t/theobald....) in September 2006 you'll find some correspondence I had with another cousin descending from Clement Jnr.

She had a photo/newsclipping of Amos that I'll send on to you. Also I have a scanned copy of the first few pages of Clement Snr's family bible which I'm happy to share with you -- it's lovely to see his handwriting which gives a lot more personal feeling to our family history.

I guess you also know of Clement Theobald builders (now Cubitt Theobald - www.cubitt.co.uk) in St Catherines Road, the company started by Clement Theobald back in 1903.

Paul

PLEASE CHECK OUT MY THEOBALD PHOTOS. They are from two albums, one red and one blue, over 80 photos. None of the pictures were identified, though they are almost certainly of my Theobald line, which descends from JACOB & MARIA KNOLL THEOBALD. The families settled in the Honesdale, PA and Clear Creek County CO areas.

We have been able to put names to some of the pictures by comparing them to group family photos of sons Adam (& Theresa) and Daniel (& Catherine) Theobald's families. It's likely that many of the other pictures are of Adam & Daniel's brothers/sisters and their families.

If you recognize anyone, please let me know.
Hi Beth!

I too am down the Clement -> Harriet line. Are you a descendent of Albert's line then? Albert had a sister who shared his mother's name and she is my GGM. Did the family stay in California? Harriet Fake (daughter) married my GGF William Hawes and then had my grandmother. My mom left California in the 70s and I was born in New Mexico. Kinda crazy that our family branched out like that.

If you'd like to chat more, please feel free to email anytime.

Jamie Telles Ferguson (ladyferg78@gmail.com)

email me at birdzu@aol.com

I have never gone to the Dhabalt reunion in Iowa. We live in Oregon, and we held one in 2000 (Dhabolt). Had several lines of the Dhabolt-Dhabalt family line attend. Doc died several years ago, and his brother Leonard is still alive. I am in touch with several of them on facebook. Cynthia Miller was also related into my line of Dhabolt (same as yours) since that was John Adams wife.

Brenda

Louisa Theobald B1868 in Newington - Married name Huggins

I am trying to find out what happened to Louisa Theobald from 1900 onwards. Louisa was married to Edward R Huggins but they were divorced in 1901, I have a copy of the divorce papers. Louisa does not show up on any census records after the 1891 census (when she was married to Edward). Her husband cited her for adultery with Wilfred Victor Lowman. They had two children Louisa b1890 and Eleanor b 1892.

I believe that Louisa died before Feb 1917 and the reason for this is her father George Theobald (b1833 d 1918) updated his will at this time and left money to his grandchildren Louisa and Eleanor. I think this was because she had died. Louisa did according to the divorce papers suffer with some mental health issues (which could have quite easily have been post natal depression but it wasn't recognised then)

I thought Louisa may have remarried but I cannot seem to find her. I cannot find a death record. Does anyone know what happened to her from 1900 onwards?

Lorraine

I would love to view pictures, and be invited. There are 3 grandchildren of Alberta (daughter of Harry Christopher Dhabalt left, we would all love to be included) I have heard of the family reunions held in August, but have never known anymore about them. I only received this book two days ago, but my family received it last year. My aunt, who passed away just two weeks ago, had this family tree book in her belongings. I have heard of Doc,(is he still alive?) and to my knowledge he came and visited my grandmother when she was still alive. I will read some more to figure out who I am a decedent of, but I must tell you I am fascinated by it all!

MY FATHER, LEONARD STANLEY THEOBALD, DOB 17.11.27 IS LOOKING TO LOCATE HIS BROTHER EDWARD THEOBALD, WHO WAS 4 YEARS OLDER THAN HIMSELF. THEY WERE BORN AND BROUGHT UP IN LONDON, AND MY FATHER MOVED UP TO MANCHESTER. I BELIEVE THAT 'TED' HIS BROTHER EVENTUALLY MOVED TO SOMEWHERE IN LINCOLNSHIRE, HAVING A WIFE CALLED JOYCE AND TWO DAUGHTERS, ONE OF WHOM WAS CALLED SUSAN. THEIR FATHER WAS IN THE POLICE SERVICE, AND THEIR MOTHER WAS KNOWN AS LIL, ALTHOUGH THIS WASN'T HER ACTUAL NAME. I BELIEVE THAT TED AT ONE TIME HAD SOME FORM OF ELECTRICAL BUSINESS OR SHOP. MY FATHER'S WIFE IS CALLED AUDREY, AND I HAVE A SISTER CALLED LINDA. MY NAME IS CHRISTINE THEOBALD, AND WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY SISTER, WE LIVE IN THE GREATER MANCHESTER AREA. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. I CAN BE E MAILED AT christine.theobald@virgin.net. THANKS
