Ms. Washington,

The key to your finding the father of Myra Theall, born 10 Sept. 1878, lies in the 1880 census for the City of Brooklyn, Kings Co., NY, wherein is found the following:

1880 census (NA Film #T9-0841, p. 542C)
Head of household - Thomas L. Thall, age 32 [born 1847-48], born in NY, Occupation [none given], Father & mother born in NY; resides in Brooklyn, Kings County, NY.
Wife - E. Mary Thall, 31 [bc 1849], born NY, keeping house, father & mother born in NY.
Dau - Elisa Thall, 3 [bc 1877], born NY, father & mother born in NY.
Dau - Myra Thall 1 [bc 1879], born NY, father & mother born in NY.

The above is supported by the following Brooklyn City Directory entries:

Lain’s 1877-1878 Brooklyn City Directory – “Thomas L. Theall,, ice, h 9 Henry.”
(ref: http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/Directory/1878/t/t5.html)

Lain’s 1879-1880 Brooklyn City Directory – “Thomas L. Theall,, ice h 37 Chapel.”
(ref: http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/Directory/1879/t.html)

Thomas L. Theall was son of Abram B. Theall and Catherine, as you rightly assumed in your Rootsweb “Washington Genealogy Project.”

The baptism of Thomas Langford Theall (your Thomas L. Theall) is recorded as follows in the records of Christ’s Church in Rye, Westchester Co., NY, an Episcopal Church.

[Baptised] 1848, Feb. 23 – “Thomas Langford, child of Abraham and Catherine Theall, born Jan. 1, 1847.”
(Vital Records of Christ’s Church at Rye,Westchester County, New York, NYGBR, v. 46, no. 4, p. 405)

Don’t be hasty to assume that “Langford” is the maiden name of mother Catherine as there is no evidence of that circumstantial or otherwise. I’ve looked at that possibly and find nothing as yet. I have suspicions that the name may in fact be “Langhorne” as a Georgianna Langhorne born Oct. 1826 was baptised 30 Jan. 1848 as per above noted church records, and Abraham and Catherine name their third child Georgianna.

Also gleaned from the vital records of Christ Church, Rye, NY, are the following children of Abram Theall and Catherine, and related specifics.
(Vital Records of Christ’s Church at Rye, Westchester County, New York, NYGBR, vols. 46-48)

Myra Eveline, bapt. May 14, 1875 at age 18, [born circa 1856-57.]
Ella, bapt. May 23, 1875 at age 11, [born circa 1863-64.]
Abram B., died Aug. 2, 1866 at 14 mos. old; buried Aug. 4, 1866, in Union Cemetery, [born May 1865]
Franklin, bapt. May 23, 1875 at age 9, [born circa 1866.]
Ida May, bapt. May 23, 1875 at age 8, [born circa 1867.]
Another child is Georgiana Theall [bc 1853] who witnesses bapt. of Myra Eveline, May 14, 1875.

To above can be added another son, Clarence, born circa 1859, appearing in censuses of 1860, ‘70 ‘80, and ’00, who may be of particular interest to you as his wife’s name is Augusta.

I hope this answers your question.

Could you tell me for my extended Theall family research who were the children of William Dumond and Myra [Warner} Dumond? So far I have Myra R. Dumond, born circa 1928; Adelide B. Dumond, bc 1930, and Barbara Jean Dumond, born 3 Oct. 1934. Any others, and/or, vital dates?

Looking forward to your response.

Sal Croft.

Sal,

Thank you for this wealth of information!

I am not familiar with the New York area and research has been slow for us over the years. Do you have a gedcom on our ancestors??

The children of William Dumond and Myra Warner are as follows:

Myra R. Dumond, living, b. NY m1. R. Luckett m2. B. Goddard

William Dumond b. 10 Jun 1931 CT d. 1988 Hartford CT

Barbara Jean Dumond, living, b. Hartford CT m1. J. Washington m2. H. Covey

Adelaide Grace Dumond bc. 1935 CT m1. P. Martin

We always thought Augusta was a surname. So glad you found out about this. Do you know who left Myra the land in England? Please email me at tr@yellville.net for additional information.

Happy Hunting :)

Terrie

Hello Sal. and all who are Theall family. I am of direct lineage to Charles Theale and his ancestors, back to the 1500's in England. Which line do you come down, with reference to the 8 brothers and sisters in the Loyalist/Patriot line ?

I'm still searching out information. I did find one of the "many" Tertulles Theall and how he is related in my information, which I have not looked at for a while, because I am researching another line.

Some of the New York Theall's moved to Louisiana early on, and have spread the Theall name down south and into Texas too.

I don't know everything about my lineage, all the cousins, and their children. But if you are a cousin, I'd sure like to meet you and figure out how you and I are connected.

send me an email personally, so that we can keep in touch.

Do you know of Harry Warren Theall or his father Samuel Theall in the 1800's ? I hope to hear back from you soon.

Terrie,
I’d like to know wherefrom, or how, you got your Abraham B. Theall (b. Feb. 1818) to be son of Abraham Theall (1795-1857) and Maria Churchward (really born in 1810). Also, where did you get the middle initial “B.” for Abraham Theall (1795-1857)?

I ask this because I can prove beyond doubt that Abraham Theall (1795-1857) and Maria Churchward were NOT the parents of Abraham B. Theall (b. Feb. 1818).

I want to know the source of your infomation before I embark on giving you the correct line of descent since your response may effect my rationale, and so I can flush out more Theall family disinformation which is rampant.

I have more for you besides this, but let’s clear this matter up first before I give you a little Christmas present.

Sincerely,
Sal Croft.
