Hi,
A Joseph Joy Theakston (born circa 1859 Russia) probably married Jane Folland Brooks (b circa 1858 Kent) Apr-Jun Q 1880 at London Middlesex.
On the 1891 UK census they are running a general store at 324 St Leonard's Road (Bow-Bromley) Middlesex with children Daisy C (b Russia), Gilbert G & Lily J (b London).
Joseph, Jane, Daisy & Gilbert are found on the 1910 US Census at Worcester, Massachusetts.

At the turn of the 18th C through the mid century there are a few Theakston family members found in Russia, quite how they fit with Joseph Joy I do not know (they probably do). BUT at least three of these Theakstons' marry members of the English (possibly Scottish) Pinkerton family also found in Russia at the time.

My interest is in the Pinkerton family especially a Dorotha (Dorothy?) UNKNOWN (possibly a Theakston) who married an UNKNOWN (possibly Robert or James) Pinkerton. Dorotha's daughter Euphemia Pinkerton born Russia 1809 married a Joseph Theakston in Russia 29 Dec 1829; Joseph had been previously married to Anna Juliana Kreiherr I believe.

The Pinkerton family return to the UK where some are found on census records from 1861 onwards.

I am keen to establish connections between these families and I'd be pleased for any mutual assistance.

Here is what I think I know...
Joseph Joy Theakston married Jane Folland Brooks.
Children: Immanual Joy (b. 1881). Daisy Comfort (b. 1883), Gilbert Gershom (b. 1885) and Lilly Jane (b. 1886). I have more info on subsequent generations.

Joseph Joy's parents were Dr. Joseph Theakston and Fanny Calvert. Dr. Joseph's parents were Joseph Theakston and Euphemia Pinkerton.

My interest is that Joseph Joy had a brother (Victor Paragoric Theakston) who is my great-grandfather. Victor married Lydia (surname unknown).

Euphemia Pinkerton was almost certainly the daughter of Alexander Pinkerton and Rebecca Jack. They were married in Edinburgh at St. Cuthbert's, 3 June 1807. Alexander was a merchant and later settled in St. Petersburg. They had many children, several of whom married into the Theakston family. I'm not a descendant. My interest in this family stems from the marrriage of Euphemia's sister, Rebecca, to Dr. Alexander Behrs. Dr. Behrs was the paternal uncle of Sophia Andreyevna (Behrs) Tolstoy, wife of Leo Tolstoy.

This is interesting as the Euphemia Pinkerton that I am researching was born born in Russia abt 1809 and is definitely the daughter of a Dorothea Pinkerton nee unknown as proven by the 1861 census that has them both living at Reigate Surrey.

So the Euphemia you mention is from a different generation.

I have seen the Rebecca and Alexander Berhs connection but have been unable to place them. So thanks for the facts you mention.
