Hastings resident Henry Thaden, 104, of 1238 N. California Ave. died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Donald E. Boeschen officiating. Burial will be in Glenvil Cemetery at Glenvil. Visitation is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Thaden was born July 10, 1892, to Harm and Ella Thaden on the family farm south of Doniphan. He attended Doniphan area schools and Hastings College. On April 24, 1918, he married Catherine Marie Post in Glenvil. They farmed and raised livestock in the Doniphan and Giltner areas for many years. In 1950 they moved to Hastings. His wife died in 1977. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Survivors are two daughters, Phyllis Rice and Eleanor Poen, both of Hastings; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and three infant siblings. Memorials may be given to the family's choice.
