Does anyone know of a connection between the Thackery (spellings vary)and Gearing families in Southwark, London/surrey, england towards the end of the 19th century. I am trying to locate my great grandmother Mary Adelaide Gearing, and have circumstantial evidence that she was known at one time as Thackary. Any help to prove or disprove the theory would be most welcome. See the post in the gearing board for more details. Thanks for helping

Hi
I have been investigating my family tree, and have linked my surname back to Thackerey/Gearing. My maiden name was Fletcher, which carries the link to the names above. This reaches back to my great grandmother, who lived in Southwark, South London. My great grandmother was Jessie Measures, formally Gearing, and in the 1901 census her mother was Annie Thackerey. Ive since found that Jessie was buried in Wouldham Church, Nr Rochester, Kent. If you have any other family information, Id love to hear from you.
Best regards
