It has taken me years but after I finally untangled some of the family stories - and the moral is don't believe every story that is handed down because half the time it is at least three-quarters wrong - and got going in the right direction I've got things proven as far as documentation goes.
I descend through Wilson J. Thacker's daughter, Margaret Clementine Thacker. John Calvin Thacker is her only other sibling.
Margaret Clementine Thacker is my great great great grandmother. For the sake of clarity I will simply start with Wilson J. Thacker and his wife and do their descendants that way.
Generation 1
1. WILSON J.1 THACKER was born about 1822 in VA. He died before 1859 in KY (based on description of the wife being a widow at the time of her death). He married Sarah A. Raiborne about 1843 in TN. She was born about 1828 in TN. She died in 1859 in near Laffayette, Christian, KY. The earliest record I currently have for this couple is the 1850 census for Cumberland, Cumberland, KY which gives their approximate ages and states of birth. Wilson J. Thacker disappears from known records after 1850 but is presumed dead based on his wife’s death record listing her as a widowed farmer’s wife. She died of lung disease, possibly TB though not confirmed by any record using that term.
Wilson J. Thacker and Sarah A. Raiborne had the following children:
i. JOHN CALVIN2 THACKER was born on 08 Oct 1840/46 in Kentucky. The earliest records I have for him is the 1850 census for Cumberland, Cumberland, KY where he is listed as age 6 which would make his DOB be abt 1844. The 1860 census of Stewart County, TN lists him as age 14 which makes his birth year about 1845/46. He is working for a family by the name of HARRIS that his little sister later marries into. At some point he ages himself, I suspect to not be so much younger than his wife who was a widow with a young child at the time they married in 1861. John Calvin had no biological children. He died on 16 Aug 1915 in Montgomery, Tennessee. He married Amelia Salina DILLARD (she was the Widow HESTER) on 27 Jul 1861 in , Montgomery, TN. She was born on 27 Mar 1838. She died on 02 Feb 1900 in , Montgomery, TN.
2. ii. MARGARET CLEMENTINE THACKER was born on 25 Dec 1847/49 in KY. She died on 13 Aug 1929 in , Stewart, TN. She married (1) WILEY W. HARRIS, son of David Harris and Mary "Polly" White on 20 Aug 1865 in Montgomery, TN. He was born about 1847 in Smith, TN. He died between 1866-1869, potentially from injuries sustained during the Civil War. She married (2) WILLIAM THOMAS PARKER, son of John Parker and Caroline Southward on 26 Mar 1872 in Cumberland Ironworks, Stewart, TN. He was born on 12 Jun 1843 in Palmmyera, Montgomery, TN. He died on 08 Nov 1917 in 6th Dist, Stewart County, Tennessee.

I have a lot more info on the descendants from this point forward into history. The daughter of Margaret Clementine Thacker Harris Parker - Mary Harris - is my great great grandmother. She was married first to John L. Cox (who died very young, possible in a lumber accident) and had my great grandfather Charles Cox (m. Dovie Birdie Screws). Then comes my grandmother Pansy Gertrude Cox (m. Dredward Carson Snoddy).
Be happy to share with anyone interested in the rest of it. I've spent years untangling things. LOL. The Thackers and Raiborne connection has proven to be my sticking point and my last "great wall" to climb over.
