Surnames: Thacker,Beard,Atkins
I'm looking for information on my Grandparents James Armstrong Thacker and Minnie Beard. They were married around 1902 to 1903 as their first child was born(ANNIE) 12/03. They moved to Rome Ga. From Waynesboro shortly after the first child was born. He was an iron worker who came to work in the foundry in rome. He was also a Baptist preacher. He had at least one brother who was named Lewis.Minnie had a sister named Molly and we think she married an Atkins. She had a niece named Ethyl. Minnie was born in the Waynesboro area. Any information you have will be appreciated. Thanks

Wendall,
Hi. I think we're distant cousins.
My Dad was Lewis Lemar Thacker of High Point, NC.
His Dad was Kenneth Jurutt Montgomery Thacker of Waynesboro, Va. His Mother was Lora O'Neill Beard of Waynes boro, Va. or thereabouts.
My GrtGranddad (BLT) brother was Jim/James a preacher who moved to Georgia.
When my Grandfather (Kenneth) visited his Uncle Jim/James (your GrGrandF) in Rome, Georgia. It was there he met my 'to be' grandmother Lola N. Stephenson. They married when she was 15 and eventually settled in High Point, NC because of the available jobs in textiles. My dad Lewis Lemar (named after both his Grandfathers) met my mother in H.P., N.C. and I was born there. Thanks to your GrGrandFath. living in Rome, Ga. area, my grandparents met!!!
Your GrGrandfather ( Jim/James, preacher) and my GrGrandfather (Benjamin Lewis) were from the "Basic City" of Waynesboro, Va. Others bros/siss were Bros: Bill (m. Mini [Lora O'Neill [my GGGrandmother] sister Minnie); Sis's: Lucy, Susie. They all worked a 1500 acre farm in Basic City that was lost when their Father Benjamin Lewis Thacker left without a word and moved to Ohio or R.I (we think).
So, your GrGrandfather Jim/James Thacker the Preacher's parents were Benjamin Lewis Thacker (F: Benj.? Thacker, M: Mary Sprouse? Thacker) and Catherine Sprauge/Sprouce(?).
I hope this helps. If you have any info on any of these Thackers, precestors, locals, ect. please email me.
Sincerely and in Family love,
Rhonda Thacker B.

For what it's worth, you're only off on a couple details Rhonda :D

Minnie Ann Beard married James Armstrong Thacker, they had a number of children. James DeWitt, Charles Franklin, Howard William, and Carl Everett (Thackers) as sons. Ann Thacker (became Henson), Evelyn A. Thacker (number of husbands it seems?), and Margaret Thacker (Crowe)

James Armstrong and Benjamin Lewis Thacker Jr were the children of Benjamin L. Thacker Sr and Catherine Thacker (Sprouce).

I'd dearly love to know who Benjamin Lewis Thacker Sr's dad was though. His mother was Mary Thacker (Sprouce)
