BOARDMAN, Ohio – Mrs. Louella Henderson, 86,departed this life Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center. (Mahoning County, Ohio
Mrs. Henderson was born July 26, 1928, in Jackson, Tennessee, a daughter of William and Hattie Donald Thacker.
She was a graduate of South High School, Youngstown, Ohio and received her Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn.
She graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN., with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Louella was a member of the Union Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, was a Missionary, and was the church clerk for 40 years.
She also did volunteer work for Protestant Family Service and Church Women United and was a social worker for Mahoning County,Ohio Children Services.
She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, a daughter, Armilla Henderson of Atlanta; a son, Artis Henderson of Youngstown, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George Thacker; and a sister, Lelia Gilliam.
Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
Services will be held Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home in Youngstown, Ohio. -
