Hi,

I started a Thacker web site that I am opening as of today. I have a limited amount of information on the site currently, but hope to expand the information available over the course of this year.

It is open to anyone that is connected to any Thacker family.

Comments and corrections are welcome.

Fred,

I visited the site last night and thought it has a lot of potential for getting us organized and helping us share information. How does it work? Do participants pay to belong or is it free? I've tried hard to put everything I come across on Ancestry as a means of making documents and photographs accessible to others, but the annual cost keeps many from using it.

Can't wait to show a picture of hubby George Thacker on his quarter-horse Chapo, who was a champion pleasure horse in the 1960's. Just kidding. We need to keep this more "historical". There are a couple of other sites that seem to attract the Facebook crowd and that's fine, but not what you have in mind, I'm certain.

Thanks for initiating this.

Hi Glenda,

My intent is for this to be a free to use site, with no advertising and hopefully easy to use.
There are no subscriptions or fees to use the site. Just a place to share information about a common research interest.

Users can send me their info via GEDCOM, and I'll import it. Or just add to what is on the site now. To be able to update information on the website, they have to register first.

If you find duplicate individuals or families, just let me know and I have tools that can merge their information.

My father rode with the Shrine Horse Patrol in Indianapolis during the 70s, I thought the photo represented him well.

One last thing, information on the living can be posted, but should be marked as living so that information can only be viewed by those who have registered.

If you have other questions, let me know.

Regards,

Fred
