I heard from my dad, that two of Al Capone's bodyguards were Tezak brothers. He had read about it when he was a kid, some incident happening in/around Chicago. Pretty rough guys....has anybody heard anything else like this?

Mark, Do you have any info. on the Tezak's in Chicago, after going through the census I find most lived in Joliet with just a couple in Chicago,it makes me think there must of been a family split for some reason. Or there isn't a connection with both family's.
Thank You.--------Patrick

Not sure about the Al Capone reference, but I do know that my family originated from the Joliet area, and I was told by my father that one of the Tezak's we were related to was the Mayor of Joliet. Also the owner of the card game UNO and the company International games is owned by a Robert Tezak, in Joliet, My father grew up in Chicago. There are a bunch of Tezak's in Colorado as well, and some in Michigan.

I know nothing about any Capone connection,My Tezak connection starts with Martin and Mary Tezak, Martin was born 1869 Slovenia, Austria. There children where
Joseph b 1896 married ?
Martin b 1901 Cook Co, married Mary McPhillips
Theresa b 1904 married Anton Papesh
Matthew b 1906 married ?
Ralph b 1908 married Stella Ferbezar
Lillian b 1918 married ? Krolling
Most of my Info comes from the Census in Chicago Cook Co., Il. and the news bank for Obits, I thought they all lived in Joliet but not sure of that. My connection is Martin and Mary McPhillips.

I have not heard any of the capone story but I have heard of Robert Tezak and the game Uno. I am from Joliet but I don't know of any other Tezaks but my father and my grandma. If there are others let me know.

Well, I'll jump in - from Steelton, PA. Don't know anything about Capone either, but my grandparents were Martin and Mary Tezak, although not the same ones as listed in the previous post. Martin was born in 1875 in Rosalnice, Slovenia and Mary Matjazic Tezak was born 1878 in Rakovec, Slovenia. They had 8 children, all of whom have passed, with my dad being the last one in 1995 at the age of 88. My dad, John, was very active with the KSKJ (St. Al's )in Steelton and travelled to Joliet to participate in their bowling tournaments. Maybe some of you folks met him. John F. Tezak. All for now, trying to keep it short. Would be interested to know if we are all connected somehow.
