I don't know if I can help you out, but It's too wierd that the names you outline below continue to be recycled in my family. My great grandfather Patrick Teyhan was born in Bundoran Co. Donegal (not sure when) He had sisters Annie, Alvina, Margaret and Nora, and brothers Dinny (I assume Dennis) James and Hughie. He had sons James (my grandfather) and Hughie. I have also heard that my Grandfather James had an uncle Peter from that side of the family??? Let me know if you think we're on the same thread.

If we were talking about an Irish name such as "Patrick Murphy from Cork" I'd say its just a coincidence - but Patrick Teyhan (not Teehan or Teahan) born in Bundoran - Id say its looking very good for a match! I've a bit more on my Patrick that I've researched;

- Patrick married a lady called Alice, once lived in Blackpool and eventually died in England. This could be suspect information though - have you any more details on your Patrick?

We have named matches here;

- sister Annie (Kate), my grandmother Sligo
- sister Margaret
- sister Nora
- brother Dinny (AKA Dennis)
- brother Jimmy/James
- There is a Peter, but my Peter is a Teyhan and is the grandfather to the above (born about 1840)

But no matches on Alvina or Hugh. The names that match are good/common enough Irish names and does point to a high relationship probability. Ill check my mothers cousin to see if Alvina or Hugh (or Peter) rings a bell. Perhaps you could check with the oldest female members of the family as us blokes never seem to remember these important issues.

If this Patrick is the same ancestor, then I have a lot more information, including parents wedding cert in Glasgow and the names of both their parents.

Ok Paul,
we have a match. Dennis Teyhan B: 1879, married Annie Rooney 19th Jan 1903 in Govan Scotland. He had father Peter Teyhan (no information so far) and Mother Ellen Feeley. Dennis also had sister Mary B: 1861, and brother Patrick Joseph (my great grand father) B: 1867. Patrick was an engineers labourer who lived in Glasgow, married Bridget Teyhan (1) 16th June 1891 in Carlisle England. Married Mary Monaghan (2) in Govan on 12th Nov 1906. Patrick had children Mary 1908, Hugh Patrick 1913, James John (my grandfather) 1911, Alvina (unsure of date), Annie (kate) 1892, Peter 1897, Sarah 1898, Nellie (unsure of date), & Bridget (unsure of date). I have plenty of other information (mainly on my line of the family), but maybe too much to write on this thread. I may get a spreadsheet together and attach.
Where do you fit into the picture?

Regards,

Doug.

Hello there cousin!

We both share the same ancestors of Peter Teyhan and Ellen Feeley (g-g-grandparents), Dennis Teyhan and Annie Rooney (g-grandparents, Dennis being your g-grandfathers brother). Dennis and Annie had 6 children, the oldest being my grandmother (also) Annie Kate b. 1903 in Govan, but moved back to Sligo. My mother was Annie Kates oldest child.

My mother always told me to ensure that the name was Teyhan and not Teehan etc!!! It's interesting how your Peter and my Dennis almost named all their children the same. That was why it appeared that we almost nearly did not connect.

When I get home tonight I''ll add what you have provided into my Family tree and will email it on to you with all my details.

Fantastic to connect with you. Are you in contact with any other family members?

Paul

Hello Susan. You have thrown a spanner in my works so to speak. I have just spent a fortune buying views of Birth Marriages and Death records on 'Scotlands People' web site. The hard copies I now have show Ellen Teyhan born at 7pm on the 12th December 1904 at 4 Queen Street to Denis Teyhan and Wife Annie nee Rooney but, I also have a Death Record for her at 2pm on the 14th December (43 hours old) cause was Disability from Birth. The Birth and Death were recorded on the same day by her father Denis.
As it was December there is no way that Annie could have given birth to another girl in 1904 and named her Ellen.
You mention a sister Mary who had similar Birth and Death Records i.e Born at 4pm on the 28th September 1908 though at 80 Queen Street and died 7:30am 27th December 1908 aged 12 weeks. Cause of Death Marasmus. Father Denis registed the death the following day.
I haven't saved up enough pennies yet to go and see if another Ellen and Mary were born to Denis and Ann but will definitely take another look when am able to do so.
Write to me at sandre.cardwell@sky.com if you want to keep in touch on this mystery.
My reason for doing this research is a family link to one of Annie Kate's children.
All the best
Sandra
