Hey there,

My name is Ashley Texley. My grandfather was Dale Texley Sr. and I live in Nebraska. I heard that some of my family lived in S.D. and I also know that my great-uncle lives in California, but that's the extent I know of my family. I have been told that we orginate from Norway, but would love to know more. Please contact me at texley_15@hotmail.com

-Ashley

I am looking for the parents and ancestors of Ingeborg Odegarden Texley who was born on March 25, 1846 in Neummedal, Norway. She later married Ole Bagley on October 23, 1865 in the U.S.

Ingeborg died November 17, 1915 in Spring Grove, MN. Her and Ole had 7 children.

Anyone who can help me please email me at:
Cascade@itis.com

Cheers,
Kevin Strattan

Ingeborg Texley

I am not aware of any Nicknames for Ingeborg, she could have gone by Emma, and I do not know who her parents are, so I can't really confirm that part of your post.

However, I highly doubt that she operated a dressmaking store in Newman Grove, Nebraska, because after she got married she was living in Spring Grove, Minnesota.

Another flaw I see in a possible connection is this, you say the family immigrated in 1868, and my Ingeborg was married to Ole O. Bagley October 23, 1865 (where I do not know). Their first child, Casper was born September 26, 1866 in Mabel, MN. So she was living in Mabel Minnesota before your Ingeborg came over.

If you have a lot more knowledge on the Texley family, perhaps you have another Ingeborg that would have immigrated earlier that would fit the dates, and locations? I would LOVE to connect, you are the only one to show interest in connecting to this line.

One other note, I have a Hellick Texley who is Casper's father in law. He was born November 18, 1843 in Neummedal, Norway. I wonder if he is a brother to Ingeborg? Or somehow related? Hellick was married to Anna Egre (born in September 17, 1857 probably Norway). Their foster daugther was Aleanna Johnson.

Wish I had more information, but that is all I know.

Cheers,
Kevin Strattan

One Texley Family in Norway

I don't know how many Texley's farms there are in Norway, but there could be many as the name comes from Teskle which is Norwegian for a Farm implement. However, I am fairly certain that my Texley family comes from the Numedal area of Buskerud County in Norway.

As I read your post, those names don't sound familiar, but I am just beginning to really dig in deep to this family line. Maybe as time passes I'll be able to link up to these Texley's ... but my Texleys pretty much settled in Wisconsin with a couple heading off to Nebraska.

Good luck!

Cheers,
-ks

Hi Kevin,
I saw your post as I did a search on my EGRE surname. I have EGRE's who came from Jersey Island (Channel Islands) in the mid-1800's to New Brunswick, Canada. Towards 1900 the name was sometimes spelled Egrey, Egray, then Grey/Gray. Today it is referred to as Gray in my family.

Can you tell me more about your Anna Egre? This is not a very common name. I have seen some other Egre's in the Minnesota area, I think. Have not checked these out yet. Possibly related?

Look forward to hearing from you

Ghislaine (Duguay) Joiner

I've just recently started my search for Texley's in S.D. and where in Norway they came from and appreciate your quick reply. My father was Verl Easton Texley, was born 20 Aug, 1920, in Esterlline, S.D. His father was Sever Texley, born 18 Oct , 1888, in Esterlline(Kadoka), S.D, married Anne Rice in Rapid City, S.D. on 5 Aug, 1919.
I may have not have recalled correctly but my father told me the family name was changed from Toxrude or Toxarude after they arrived U.S. from Norway. Your mention of Teskle as the source of Texley is new to me but may be the name that I have recalled incorrectly.
Sever Texley's father was Thomas Texley. I have not been able to find any info on Thomas in S.D. except his name.
My name prior to adoption by Raymond Delbert Green in 1952 was Richard Verl Texley.

Regards,
R.
Well I do know that prior to becoming Texley, I believe that the last name was Larsen. And that Texley was only brought into play in order to get on the boat from Norway. Can't verify the accuracy on that. I was only a small child when I heard the stories.
