dobrovolnys in North Dakota
My dad was Edward Texel. I was told that his mother came from Moravia and married Edward Texel. They met in Neb where dad was born in a sod house near Omaha on 1-31-1898. Her name was Mary Odapahl or something spelled like that. The dobrovolnys are related someway. The Texels had 10 children and moved from Nebraska to MN and then on to Stanley, ND

Hello Sylvia: I am so excited, we are cousins! Here is the relationship: My grandmother Karoline, married Anton Dobvolny in Ratkovice, Moravia. Karoline's brothers were John and Edward. Karoline's father, George was my great grandfather, he is buried in the Bohemian cemetary south of Ross, ND as is Edward and Mary Odapahl Texel and several of their children. I am in close touch with John Texel's grandson Keith in Wahoo, Nebraska and Edward Texel's grandson, William (Billy Joe) Texel in Rapid City, SD. This so exciting, I cannot tell you how great this is. We are having a reunion this month in SD of the Dobrovolny's. Please reply soon. I have a toll free # 1/888-298-8989, please call. Georgia D. Hello Sylvia: I wanted to let you know that we are having a reunion in Custer SD on June 23,24,25 at the Bavarian Inn. Knowing your father played on a Yankton, SD radio station with the Welk band I thought perhaps you live in SD or near and we would be excited to see you. I am anxious to hear from you. My toll free # is 1/888-298-8989. I reviewed the information I had from Mary Texel Wright, your father's sister, who lived in Minot and found your name. Until I hear from you, I hope soon, I will be anxious. Georgia Dobrovolny Rice

I would love to see you and get to know more about the family. I'm living in Colo. Sprgs and all my children have families of their own. My sister Karol and Ed live here. I think now I know why her name started with a K instead of the usual C for Karol. I just left a message on the # you gave. My office hours are 8-5 at 719-444-5581. Would love to hear from you and plan a trip. Will Billy Joe be there? I wonder about his sister Juanita. I raised my kids in Rapid., and have one daughter there. Hope to see you. One more thing, where did the name Texel originate? I heard in the 15th century they went across Germany and settled on an island in the Netherlands. And that the Texel name was originally not spelled that way. If so what is the correct Bohemian way. I'm full of questions but will save for later. Thanks. syl
