My grandmother used to tell me that she had heard others saying that Texeira Surname must have come from Portugal or Goa. According to my grandmothers story, Tippu Sulthan King captured nearly one lakh people from, Goa, Mangalore and near by places and was taking them to Mysore. On the way many were killed while tring to escape, some were lucky escaped on the way to Mysore and few in Coorg,( one was my THE GREAT GRAND FATHER ) At last Tippu Sulthan had only Ten thousand people when he reached Mysore, Srirangapathnam Fort.
If any one can assist me with more details of TEXEIRA family, connections in coorg and India, I will ever gratefull as I am very keen to know about my surname. Bye for now, alice.
