Hi there,
I'm part of a Yahoo email group for making Texada family connections. There are people on the list who have done extensive family trees starting with Manuel Garcia de Texada from Spain through to the present. I'm sure you can find tons of the info you'll looking for and that they would like to hear from you. Here's the info about the group and how to join (free):

Thanks,
Val Nelson

Hello Shanina: I found your inquery on the internet, I too have been researching with a cousin the Texada history. I am a granddaughter of Wright Texada, who was a son of Louis and Martha Texada. What I found is that some sectors of the family were also from Mexico, after the war they settle in Rapides Parrish along the bayou. I remember meeting and lots of stories about Shug, Neal, Lutica and Ta-Sweet. My father Clarence Texada, his mother was Carrie St. James-Texada. There are 3 of the siblings living in the Houston, Texas area Odessa, Bennie Ruth (Babysister) and my dad Clarence. Everyone else has passed away within the last 10 years. My dad is 78 yrs. old, Babysister is 77 yrs. old and Odessa is 80 yrs. old. They are still a very close family, the history is interesting and rich. The cousin I refered to, you might know him, his name is (Junior) Lee Dodson, resides in Alexander, La, he is an administrator educator the last I spoke with him, he's an area principal in the Rapides Parrish department of education. His mother was the oldest daughter of Wright and Carrie, Martha nickname was Momah, his brother whom as passed away was Charles Louis Dodson. Let me know if I can be of help to your search, looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes - I remember LeTesia, she is the sister of Wright. I lived briefly in Chicago in the 1980's and visited LeTesia. She live on the southside of Chicago. Myself and a college friend visited her on a Saturday afternoon, it was very cold. Her daughter greeted us, I think her name was Neal. This email is dated Feb. 2007, I'm writing you in March 2009, Is LeTesia still alive? My dad would love to know that she is alive. Please send my love, and write back soon. What is your name and maybe you can provide what you know about the Texada family history.

Take care,
Love

Hello Pam,

WOW...this is amazing. I did post this years ago and almost forgot I did. Yes, we are talking about the same Aunt Tish (as we called her). She was the youngest of I forget of how many children. She was the youngest sister to my great-great grandmother Alice (Holt) Texada--they called her Mother. Aunt Tish passed away last year...She was 103 years old. The last time I seen her was at her 100th birthday bash and she was a spitfire...just like when she was younger (or so I was told)

I'm Shaina Victoria Glass--My mom is Rena Gayle Boss-Victoria--which is the daughter of Ruth B Rosenthal--whose mother was Beatrice Holt Boss--daughter to Alice Texada

I know it's a long lineage.. Guess that makes me the 5ht generation. Still feels like a tight lineage.

I see you are a Texada. What's your lineage. I am young (28) but I have been, I guess you can say molded for learning and sharing our lineage... since I was about 8. That's when they had the big Texada reunion in Los Angelos in the Summer of 88/89.

I have created a tree..it should be online and it's available for I believe all to see that shows the lineage of the Texadas I know of. It goes back to the mid 1600s. I actually research the lineage and my mom even takes us (my siblings) to the Texada graveyard. Why?I don't know but I find it interesting, especially learning about people and their connection to family.

Let me know if I can help or how we can help each other.

I grew up on Texada road. None of the Texada as far as I know were from Mexico. The descendants are from Spain. Louis Texada had a brother named William who left the Bayou. Louis stayed and became an excellent local business man with a lot of land. He and Martha had 10 kids and those descendants live on the bayou and a lot are in the Houston area. I lived next door to Too Sweet and here brother was my grandfather. Very rich rich history and still a lot to learn.
