Dear Beverly: My gandmother's maternal grandmother was one of the grand daughters of Manuel Gregorio de Texada, he married Josefa Perdomo Xenes in New Orleans on 7-5-1791. My grandmother always told me that her grandmother Lutgarda Navarro y Gregorio de Texada spoke french and that she descended from a distinguished family that settled in Havana and Matanzas after the Luisiana purchase, being loyal to the king of Spain. I have an old photograph of her. Her son, Jaime Tio Navarro settled in Merida, Yucatan, after he fled colonial authorities and fought for Cuba's independence.

My half sisters are direct descendants (great-granddaughters) of Jaime Tio Navarro. I'm not a descendant of the Tio family, but my sisters would love to look at that picture you mention. If you could send me a photo of it I'd greatly appreciate it.
