i'm also descended from Lewis Emanuel Texada but of an earlier wife of his so I didn't know about Blanche. I know a lot about the Texada tree in Louisiana or can get you in touch with more people. I moderate an email group for the Louisiana Texadas if you want to join:

You seem to be confusing three Lewis Texadas. The first was Lewis E-
manuel Texada (1819-1884) whose first wife was Anna B. Lyon whom he married in Virginia; he went to law school at the University of Virginia.
His and his second wife's (Pleasance Hunter) first son was named Lewis
Manuel (called Lewie Manuel) b. June 3, 1853, and it is he who married
Blanche Preot b. Feb. 13, 1858; they married on Jan. 24, 1880. Lewis Emanuel Texada was born to Lewis Manuel (Lewie Manuel) Texada and
Blanche Preot Texada on Aug. 7, 1895. They had Maud Lewis on March
12, 1882; Blanche Elizabeth on Mar. 29, 1884; Arnette Preot on May 29,
1886; Annie Augustus on Mar. 4, 1889; Aimee Augusta (there is a ? on
this entry so the handwriting may have been difficult to read) on Mar. 10,
1891; Pleasance Hunter on May 4, 1894; Lillian Preot on May 6, 1897. I
believe that's it. It's a little daunting when names are used over and over, but in every other way than recording it is a lovely custom. Petey

sister Martha, who married Dr. Cruikshank. Petey

Petey is right. I realized my error later but I saw that the original author, Judith, found her answer elsewhere. Thanks for clarifying this on this bulletin board.

Dear Judith,
Thank you for the complete list; we're working from the Lewis E. Texada/Pleasance Hunter Bible transcription which Tom Latino made on
a visit to Bayou Rapides. David Meyer, who just started law school at
Loyola New Orleans today, has been trying to pull all of this infornation
together. I know that you have already come aboard the Yahoogroup-
Texada, which Val is moderating. Most of the things that we put toge-
ther will likely be found there so that David has a one-stop spot when he
updates or has questions as he goes forward on the family tree. I'm go-
ing to forward your list from Ancestry to him, if you don't mind. Petey

I don't mind at all, you forwarding the information I sent. I have been talking to Jackie Texada McGriff and she will be sending me some information about the Texada's in the mail, she does'nt have a computer and is up in age. So I will pass it on to everybody. I can't wait to get it. She told me that there was a book written about the Texada's and stupid me forgot to ask her the name of the title and author. She said she use to have a copy but does not know what happened to it. When I receive the papers from her the name will be in it. I have never seen any mention of the book on the message boards. Have you ever heard of a book written about the Texada's? If it's out there I would love to find a copy. This is so interesting doing research about our ancestors.,

Dear Judith,
I don't know the name of that book, either. I can an uncle who might know. Anyway, it will be wonderful to find out. I'm so glad that you're
going to get more information; it is fun to work with it all. Love, Petey

Texada book - The Bayou Chene Story

is this the book you are referring to? I read in this board about a book containing information about Joseph Texada's side of the family (brother of Capt Jack and son of Manuel Garcia de Texada) and this is the note about it from that message:

"Frank and Gladys Case (New Iberia residents). She completed the work her husband had started before he died. Her book is called The Bayou Chene Story."

The story I heard from Alice Chilton years ago was that Joseph Texada left for Texas and lost touch with the Bayou Rapides part of the family, but the posting I'm referring to was from one of his descendants and she says he moved to Bayou Chene area. Where is that?

This note was posted by Beverly Barrilleaux on 6 Dec 2000 and it's titled "Clarence Texada."
She also posted that she possesses the Texada Family Bible from Joseph's side of the family. She says that Joseph's mother was Isabel Garcia and not Mahala Trevillion who was John's mother and that the Bayou Chene book says Mahala is the mother of both, which is wrong.
