I am trying to trace my family history. When I was in Belgium I saw that a Frederick Robert Tewkesbury (son of H and Sarah Ann Tewkesbury) had been killed at the age of 28 in WW1. He had been in the Essex Riding Regiment. I am trying to find out if he is an ancestor of mine, or how he relates to the wider Tewkesbury clan. His parents had lived at 36 Ferndale Road, Forest Gate, Essex. Does anyone have any info on him?

Dear Caroline,

I do not know of a direct link between our Tewkesburies, but my grgrandmother's name was Caroline Tewkesbury, born in Brockport, New York, but, both of her parents were born in England, Walter and Frances Tewkesbury. I took interest in your message because your name jumped out at me. I am presently following a lead that they may have been from the Isle of Wight. Does the Isle of Wight sound familiar to you? You can e-mail me directly at tswovic1@rochester.rr.com.
