A couple years back I started a YDNA study through Family Tree DNA. At first I was mainly interested in the DeVault surname but then I realized the name was sometimes spelled Tevault in records going back to the early 1800's so I opened it up to a few additional surnames. Sure enough I have a few project members (a Tevault line and a Dewalt line) that have tested and proven to be close dna matches to my line of DeVaults. I have also found two other DeVault lines that I was always checking on to see if there was a connection - are not related. That means no more wasting time researching those lines. Many more discoveries but what I'm trying to do is recruit people to join the project. This isn't just for my benefit as your test results will be used to find matches in the project but also among the thousands of people who have tested through Family Tree DNA. We've broken down a few brick walls already and maybe it can help you out too.
We have 17 members including several DeVaults, a Dewald, Dewalt, TeVault, Dawalt, Devaux and a few others. We're also interested in the Tewalt surname as well. In fact in many records prior to 1820 my ancestors were sometimes listed as Tewalt. If interested drop me a line and check out the project at:
