I got interested in your discussions and since I am also a Teves, I might as well join in. I am Franco Teves, son of Paquito Teves of Dumaguete City and Geronima Gaite of Iligan City. I am a molecular biologist and a professor at the MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology. That is quite true, that all Teveses in the Philippines are related. My grandfather, Mariano and Margarito I (Lolo Titoy, grandfather of Gary) were first cousins who were neighbors near Foundation University in Dumaguete City. I lived in Spain for two years and found out that our roots were most probably Portuguese since Teveses I communicated to were in Portugal. If ever our ancestors were Spanish, they would be Gallegos from the Spanish province of Galicia, which is very near Portugal.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Franco

Hi Mickey,

Am so sorry that I was not able to post anything for a long time but was so delighted upon visiting Ancestry.com when I saw two responses- one from you and another from Pam. I will be visiting Dumaguete in August 2011 for the Silliman University Founders' Day. I will check on your inquiry if still you have not found some information. Keep in touch.

Hi Pam,

I have heard of your name from our other cousins in Dumaguete but I guess I have not met you personally. The last time I visited Tito Miniong was 2 years ago with my family. Thank you for responding to my posting. I may visit him again in August this year. Regards to all in the family.

Hi Pam, I hope I can regularly visit this message board. I was in Dumaguete and I learned from Rollie Pinero that you were there, too. If not for some acquaintances present, I could have gone with Rollie to see you. Anyway, I will try to check regarding Lolo Tikyo. I suggested to Penn Larena Tulabing who has contributed greatly to the written records of the Teves Family Tree that gaps int eh family tree need to be addressed. Good that we still have Tito Meniong and a few others in his generation. I will send info as soon as new things come up. God bless you, Pam!
