My great-grandfather emigrated from Germany in the late 1800's, and his name was Carl A. Teuber. I believe the A stands for Adolph; one of his children, as listed on the census, was named Adolph. He and his wife, Anna, were both from Germany; one census lists their native country as Bavaria. They had numerous children, one of whom was my grandfather, Horace. This was my mother's father, and she never saw him again after the age of 5. She has no idea what became of him after her parents' divorce in 1926. I am interested in learning more about him, and his ancestors also. I am wondering if there might be a connection with your grandmother.

I am not sure I just started the genealogy on the Teuber family. I do know that they came from Black Forest area and have no further information at this time. There is a possiblity since Teuber in the USA is not a common name.

Susan:

I don't know exactly where in Germany; I only have the census information which lists my great-grandfather's birthplace as Germany. On one census, they had written Berlin under birthplace, and then crossed it off and put Germany there. The census lists both of his parents as having been born in Germany, also, although it doesn't say anything about where in Germany. It says that my great-grandfather immigrated from Germany in 1872, when he would have been 8 years old. Also, from one census to another, they had his first and middle names transposed, so I don't know if it is Carl Adolph Teuber, or Adolph Carl Teuber. But he was born in Germany, probably Berlin in 1864, to two German-born parents whose names I don't have.

Hope this provides a clue!

My Teuber ancesters came from Eisen, Germany (Black Forest area, I'm told). I was told he left Germany because he didn't want his sons to serve the Kaiser in the army...he hated the Kaiser. My great grandfather, August, I believe also had brothers who came in the late 1800's. I can look up names when I get home. He settled in the Wheeling, WV area and also in Ohio along the river. I don't have the information here with me now to give details. I looked at this site on a whim. August's last name was changed to Tiber, therefore; we are all Tibers!

Thank you so much for your message! I, too, had looked up Teuber on a whim--last summer!
I didn't even think my message was still on the board, so I was very surprised when I got your message. I would love it if you could let me know the names of your Teuber ancestors; my grandfather left when my mother was five years old and has not been seen or heard from since, and his parents were the ones who immigrated over from Germany.

Thanks for your reply, and I hope I hear back from you!

Mary

Surnames: Tiber, Von Teuber, Teuber, Peach
Melanie: My! I stumbed onto your message. My husband comes from the Teuber, or Von Teuber, Augustus family. He was born in Berlin, Germany, in the early 1800's married in his early 30's had a son August who changed his name to Tiber when he immigrated to Canada about 1875, so that he did not have to serve in the military! He married Mary Peach in 1875 or 1876, in Refrew, Ontarion, Canada. They had a dau. Mary, and moved to Park River, N.D., Walsh Co. Several children were born in ND, Henry, Cecelia, Annie and Alphene. August then moved to the pacific coast of Canada and resided in the port of Vancouver area. Is any of this coinciding with your family tree? Lori Marquette..

Surnames: Teuber
Hi, Lori & Melanie:

Any idea what August's (or Augustus's) brother's names were? I'm looking for my great-grandfather, whose name is either Carl Adolph Teuber, or Adolph Carl Teuber. He was born in 1864 in Germany--possibly Berlin--and he immigrated to the US in 1872 with his wife, Anna. The family settled in North Dakota (Morton County) and had numerous children, one of whom was my mother's father, Horace. Later, the family moved to Seattle, WA area. Since the Tibers ended up moving from Canada to North Dakota, and then to Vancouver area, I'm wondering if they are related to Carl/Adolph.
