Dear Mary:

I think that we should definitely keep in touch. At this point, I do not know who my August's brothers or sisters were, but I hear through older family members, that his father was also named August. He was firstborn, and other brothers would be 1/2 brothers as his mother died and August Sr. remarried and had other children. Another story I heard, that the brother, to either August Sr. or August Jr. was very high up in the Catholic Church in Germany, (Bishop?) I would expect that was Berlin.

Hi, Lori:

Thanks for your reply. It seems possible that August Sr. was the father of my great-grandfather Carl Adolph. (or Adolph Carl) was apparently a clergyman of some kind in his later years. He had also been a teacher at one point. His wife's name was Annie (or Anna), and the children were as follows: Edith, Horace, Letta, Alta, Faith, Hope, Andrew, and Eunice. This was as of the 1920 Census. My grandfather, Horace is the one I'm trying to find; he hasn't been heard from since 1926.

Thanks for staying in touch. If I find out anything leading to August, I'll be sure and post it, although I'm not actively searching at this point.

I live in Germany, but I have never heard (and not found in the books) of a city called Eisen (german word for `iron`). Maybe you mean Eisenach or Meissen (near Dresden)?
By the way: the name "Teuber" originates from the word "Pidgeon /dove" (if anybody is interested).

My wife's father was Charles Teuber, born Germany (probably State of Brandenburg) in Jan 1861. Came to Minnesota 1880's. Need to know where in Germany he was born.

I realize you posted this over a year ago. Sorry! Hope you see my message. I kind of got away from my research and re-started it again now that census records are available online. You know, Louise, August's daughter, never married. My dad said she was a nice lady, his Aunt Louise, but sort of a recluse. He said she was a live-wire and worked at Higbee Company in Cleveland as a clerk, then suddenly she quit and became a recluse. It was something of a puzzle to the family. He thought schizophrenia, but I told him what if something happened to her? like a rape or something awful like that. Back then, women were even less likely to seek help for that. I have a lot more records, but they are not with me. I am borrowing my father's computer since mine crashed! All my information is next to my computer! I wil try to remember to get more info to you. In the meantime, I am also having trouble accessing my email...even from my father's computer. I don't know what is going on, so just email me at paulalbert@alltel.net and put in the subject box, "attention Melanie". Thanks!

This seems too much of a coincidence- my great- grandfather was named Adolph Carl Teuber and his wife was 'Anna" -- or "Annie" - Muhm was her maiden name and her dad was from Germany- Adolph Teuber had many kids- one of whom was Horace- this was my great uncle- however, could this be your grandfather??? I hadn't known that he was divorced- I did know that his brother "Hope" was divorced-- I have alot of information on this particular line of the Teubers in case you are interested.

I have a Carl August Herrmann born in 1854 in my line. In my case, most of the Teubers listed were born in Seitendorf.
The oldest record I has is of a Johann Gottlieb Teuber who was born in 1775 and died in 1824. He was married to a Johanna Juliana Reimann b. 1785 d. aft 1822
