Surnames: Teeters, Teters
My ancestral grandfather was a George Teters (Teeters) who married Susannah Willard (Villard) in about 1798 probably in Somerset Co., PA. There is a group of Teters in East Bethlehem, Washington, PA in 1800 (Henry, George and Michael). George would move on to Ohio and end up in Wayne Co. OH. I believe he died in 1823 in Paint Twp., Wayne, OH but others think he died in Sugar Creek, Stark, OH. George and Susannah had at least seven children; David 1800, perhaps a John 1805, Unknown female 1807, Jacob 1810, Lewis 1815, Rachel 1817 and George Jr. 1822.

There are other TEETERS who settled in Wayne Co. OH one of which is a Henry Teeters and he past away about the same time as George. Has anyone researched the three Teters in EAst Bethlehem, Washington, PA?

I have some corrections and additions to my older post above. I hope it adds more answers than questions, but...

My Ancester George Teter was
only seven years of age when he lost his
father and he was reared by strangers.
He was born in Washington county,
Pennsylvania, and was married in that
state to Miss Sarah Fowler, who was also
born in Washington county. Soon after
they loaded their possessions on a horse
and started for Steubenville, Ohio,- where
Mr. Teter purchased one hundred and
sixty acres of land. There he made his
home until his death, which occurred in
1866. His wife resided there for twelve
years following his demise and then came
to Salem township, where she made her
home with her son Jacob until her death,
which occurred in January, 1880, when
she was eighty-one years of age.

Per Census results, he was born in 1800 or 1801. He settled in Tuscarawas county, Ohio (which is near Steubenville) in the 1820s with his wife Sarah (Fowler). His land became part of Carroll County, Ohio when that county was formed in the 1830s. The Richland county family is a different family.

So, I'd love to learn about a Washington County George Teter born about 1801 or whose parents may have died about 1808.

Greetings HD,
I am a direct descendent of Henry Samuel Teter and have been compiling the tree for the last couple 4 four years. I would love to see a copy of the will and would be happy to put it on my gene page if you allow.
My page is Starmon.com/gene.html
Thanks for answering why he left money to the youngers. Had me baffled, but makes sense.

Hi,
Just curious as to our relationship. Etta Editha Teeters Smith is also my great-grandmother. My line is Etta Editha, Winifred Smith Bowman (married to Jesse E. Bowman), John Chalmers Bowman, me. I presume since your last name is Smith that you are descended from my dad's Uncle Willie.
