Anyone want to try this challenge. My wife's father (secrets in family) was born a Bruski(e) and one of his brothers was put on a train as a child in the 1920' with a strainger not to be heard from again. There was also another sibling. His mother changed his last name to Teschka(e). He is living in the Amsterdam, N.Y. area, his birth around 1927.Any takers?

Cliff,
I'm Jim Marks and I live in Amsterdam, New York. My grandfather was William (Wilhelm Marks) Marks. He was born in Lagenau bei Freystadt, West Prussia, 1868. and came to the U.S. (Amsterdam) in the early 1890's. His mother
was Caroline Teschke and to the best of my knowledge she stayed in Germany(West Prussia). My older sister says my grandparents spoke of the Teschke family in Amsterdam and believes they were some sort of relatives. There is a Teschke plot in the Greenhill Cemetery on Cornell Street near the fence across the street from Saint Stanislaus Church.

If you search the LDS site for Teschke you will find there are many Teschke people listed from Langenau bei Freystadt, West Prussia.

There was also a death notice for a female Teschka in the Schenectady Gazette a few months ago, lived outside of Amsterdam, but it gave no family background.

I believe the only difference between Teschke and Teschka is gender.

If you find any connections, please let me know.

Jim
