I am looking for any info, descendants, etc. for the Tesche family, August C. Tesche (b.@1836 Prussia, d. bet. 1869-1880) and Emma J. (Knotte) Tesche (b.@1833 Prussia) who emigrated from Bremen on the ship Edmund to New Orleans, arriving 12/8/1858, and went to St. Louis, MO and in approximately 1862 moved to Newark, NJ.

Their children were:
Matilda b.3/1859 St Louis
Bertha b.@1861 St Louis
Ida b. @ 1863 NJ
Otto (Carl) b.@1868
Emil b.@1870

Matilda is my Greatgreatgrandmother and married John Emil Berlenbach and remained in Newark, NJ. One or some of the others may have moved to Connecticut or possibly Massachusetts.

Bertha and Ida may have married into families with the surnames: Lenz, Pohlig or Bauer.

Thanks! you can contact me at: Ignatzs5@yahoo.com

Surnames: Berlenbach
Hi, my name is Mark Berlenbach, my great-grandfather was John Berlenbach as was my grandfather's name. My grandfather died in the 70's, while my great-grandfather lived until the middle 80's. I currently live in South Jersey, my father and his immediate family lived in Quakertowm, Pa. My great-grandfather lived and worked in NJ as a whole sale candy distributor among other jobs. My grand father John Berlenbach was a carpenter. My father, brother and aunt all Berlenbach's are all priests in the Episcopal church. Feel free to email me back if you would like to discuss further.

Surnames: TESCHE, BAUER
I have a different Bertha Tesche who married a Joseph Bauer. In the 1880 census they are living in Philadelphia, PA with three children (who based upon the birthplace of their mother appear to be from a prior marriage of Joseph's). J. Peter Tesche (Bertha's widowed father) and Peter Tesche (her younger brother) are also living with them. This Tesche family migrated to the U.S. about 1866.

I am not suggesting that there is a connection between these Tesche's and yours. When I saw your Bertha Tesche possibly marrying a Bauer, thought I might be able to help rule that one out?
