My great grandmother, antonina tepedino, was born in Padula Italy. I have no dates but I'm guessing in the 1850-60's. She married Fraancesco Giasi (also spelled Giossi, Giosi, and Giassi) and had two sons: Michael Aangelo Giasi (no birthdate) and Angelo Raphael, b. August 29, 1880. Both sons emigrated to Brooklyn, New York where they lived for the rest of their lives. Michael (my grandfather) died on January 24, 1954 leaving behind five children, Mary, Frank, Michaelina (my mom), Rose and Michael. I know nothing about Padula and have no information about either family except the above. I would be very grateful for any information on Padula, Salerno, and the Tepedino and/or the Giasi families.
If you have any, please e-mail me at loreenci@pacbell.net
Thanks for your time

Hi Loreen,
My grandfather's name was Francesco Paolo Giasi. I've just recently discovered that the spelling of his last name was apparently changed to G-I-A-S-E when he came through Ellis Island in 1914.
He was the son of Vito Michele Giasi and Maria Eustachia Iacavone. He was born in Matera, Italy, and married my grandmother, Anna Catania, in 1917.They lived briefly in New York City berfore settling in Jersey City, N.J., where he died in 1964.
They had 5 children -- Mary, Katherine, Michael, John (my father) and Frances. Only Katherine is still living.
Do you recognize any of these nanes?
Thanks for taking the time to respond to this inquiry.
Sincerely,
John M. Giase
