My Great Grandmother on my mother's side. She was born in Newport, Wales about 1861. Any information on her Welsh life would be greatly appreciated.
Mary Caroline Tennant was born about 1861, in Newport, Pembrokeshire. She lived in London, in 1881 and moved to Houghton Le Spring, Durham, sometime between 1881 and 1901. She had three sons, four daughters, and one other child with John Thornton between 1876 and 1903.

Are you related to William Tennant who lived at 18 Herd Terrace Loanhead around 1980. I believe he died in 1984. I live in the US and one of my relatives originally from Scotland was good friends with William Tennant. I have a letter from William Tennant in 1980 to my relative. Just seeing if we can find any Tennants still left in Loanhead?

He was born May 23, 1922 in Jackson, Ohio.

Denver was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He retired from Mohawk Tire & Rubber Company and later from Aircraft Mechanic & Inspector Wadsworth’s Sky Park Airport.

Denver loved to fly and has traveled the world in his own small aircraft from the Arctic Circle to Venezuela.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Bolen) Tennant; mother, Laura (Love) Tennant; father, Roscoe Tennant; and brother, Robert Tennant (Doris).

He is survived by his children, Daniel Tennant (Laura), Melvin Tennant, and Marilyn Harris (Robert); grandchildren, Daniel Tennant Jr., Matthew Tennant (Crystal), Michelle Tennant, Michael Harris, Heather Harris, Randall West (Renata), Gregory West (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Ayden Tennant, Joshua West, Christian West, Charity West, Hope West, and Liilibet Joy West; brothers, Calvin Tennant (Dean), Richard Tennant (Anita); sister, Lena Wolfe (Eldred).

Mattie (Criss or Clemons) Tennant

I'm trying to decipher the mystery of Mattie Tennant (1879-1961). Her obituary says she was born in Butler Missouri but other census's say born in Kansas. She died in Vinta Oklahoma where she lived most of her life. Husband William Thadeous Tennant.

Her son's (my great grandfather's) death certificate says her maiden name is Criss but her obit it says Clemons, even listing a brother named Frank Clemons.

I'm trying to verify that her maiden name was in fact Clemons (which seems most likely), where Criss came from if possible and if her parents were Henry & Jenni and I see in some places or Orhelia & Oscar which is in others.

Any tips, pointers or directions to go in?

My grand father was Leonard Claude Tennant. He was b. in Winona, Minnesoto, in 1878. I would like a photo of him if there are any anywhere. No one in my immediate family, except my parents, ever seen him. Jackson County, WI should have a mug shot of him, since he spent time in prison in 1910. But I tied to find out and can't. Apparently they don't keep records for that many years.

I am searching for information on my father's family. His name was Donald Arthur Tennant, he passed away back in 1976. His father's name was Herbert, but unsure as to his mother's name. He had 3 siblings, Herbert, Patricia, and unsure of his other brother's name as he was killed in Vietnam. Any help would be great.

Poon Tennant lived almost next door to me when I was a kid, I went to school with their grandchild Naomi Stiles. I have Braden relatives. Also my gg grandfather Zadoc Whitehill was the son of Andrew Tennant and Elizabeth Whitehill. I am still looking for his family, and haven't found a positive connection as yet. TENNANT female marries a MOSS male in Ireland 1800's?

I am trying to track down how my ancestors managed to "marry" their names, as I have ancestors called Christopher Tennant Moss, William Tennant Moss, Thomas Tennant Moss, Lionel Tennant Moss etc so I think that the union must have occurred around 1780/1800's in Ireland/England. I found in an obit in 1942 in an Australian newspaper, a Moss female who married a Daniell male and had a son. The husband and son both died and the obit said the the deceased were direct relatives of Sir Charles Tennant of England, Sir William Macartney BT Donegal Ireland, as well as the Moss family. Any clues would be helpful. Have searched the usual suspects - Genes, Ancestry, FindMyPast, Fsmily Search, Irish Genealogy sites.

Adam Tennant (1784-1878), who was the son of Richard Tennant (1744-1822) and Elizabeth Haught (1748-1830);
and
Catherine Moore (1791-1870), who was the daughter of Michael Moore (1767-1845) and Eva Brown (1765-1820).

I think you have a typo in the marriage date. I believe it was in 1887, when Abe was 22 years old.

Clara Tennant was my grandmother and was born around 1883 in Neasden Middlesex but I am unable to find any records of her other than the 1911 census when she is living in St Marylebone London and her name on my mother's birth certificate in 1910 in St Marylebone. My father was Robert Tennant. His siblings were Clyde, David, Ana, Jean & Bernice Tennant. I remember Uncle Clyde as a child. I remember my Dad saying Clyde had been married. I thought he had one son and one daughter, but can't remember for sure. Dad was born 1930. If you think we are talking about the same Clyde Tennant, please reply.

My mother was a Tenhet. John Charles William (Constable) Tenhet is my ggg grandfather. My grandfather, Arthur Leonard, g, James Buchanan, gg,Arthur William, and ggg,John Charles William Tenhet.
I would also love to have a photo of Mr. John Tenhet. And any other photos of my above referenced great greats. I have some of my grandfather but nothing past him.

That's unfortunate--there doesn't hardly seem to be any information on her parents and no more info on Martha Elizabeth. Cannot find (on line anyway) a birth certificate, death certificate or marriage license for Martha. She doesn't seem to exist before marrying Henry. Her obit apparently mentions parents John and Ellen but no last names. This is an assumption because I haven't seen it, am going to have to go to Chillicothe Library and get a copy. We are becoming more convinced she was Cherokee, based on this lack of info and family stories. My wife's (Terri) grandmother was Myrtle Caroline, dau of Henry and Martha....We have been to Jackson, Ohio area an have many grave marker photos of Tennants and Dempseys if interested. Thanks for answering.

I am looking for information on Martha Elizabeth (Woods)Tennant. Here is what I know (or at least am reasonable sure might be correct): Born on 12 Feb 1861 and died on 1 Aug 1928. These dates based on her obituary. We have a photo of her gravestone. She is buried in the area of Jackson, Ohio She married Henry Tennant in 1879. Some information has the marriage in 1870, but I think that is wrong as she would have been 9 years old. She was my wife's gr grandmother, and the family story is that she was a Cherokee Native. We cannot find much about her, which leads us to think she was in fact Cherokee. We have the basic information about children that can be found on the various genealogy websites that I won't fill in here unless it will help. We are looking for her (Martha's) parents information. thanks

My great grandfather was Benjamin Ponsonby Tennant. My grandmother was Emma Louise Tennant. Maybe descended from Lord Ponsonby in Scotland.

Hi: My name is Margaret Padley, I have been researching the Tennant line in Ontario on Behalf of my stepdaughter who is a direct decendant of Robert Kitchnersen's older brother James Lloyd. We have only 4 siblings for Robert not 13. (Is this a typing errror) Siblings are:

James Lloyd Tennant b 1899
Ruth Tennant B 1897
Herbert Tennant b 1904
Gerald b ? (I have him in my file, but can't find it right now.
Parents are James Tennant and Christina Dickson

Donna, are you still here? Allen Tennant Sr was my 4th great grandfather, so we're related. I have not been able to friend information (YET) on his parents but as it happens his wife, Mary Braman, was a cousin (or something) whose mother was Meribah Tennant. I have been able to trace to family back to Scotland ...get in touch if you're interested in more, or if you have info on parentage of Allen Tennant Sr, I'd love or know more.

Hi. My father's name was Clyde Arthur Tennant. He was in the Navy and we lived in Fresno, then San Diego. His mother's name was Bernice. I was told I was named Jean (middle name) after his favorite sister. I have an older brother whose middle name is Arthur. He was born in 1948, I was born in 1950, and my two younger sisters were born in 1951 and 1952. When I was 10 - 12, a lady my mom told me to call "Aunt Barbara" wanted to adopt me. I don't know if she was really any relation.
I have wondered all my life about my father. My mom removed all photos and records of him, so I don't remember what he looked like. My parents split up about 1953 - 1954.

John Tennant early 1700's...Monument Pic from Scotland

Yesterday I was at Saint Michaels Church next to Linlithgow Castle in Linlithgow, Scotland and took a pic of this monument. It mentions John Tennant and someone else whose name I think is Christian Henderson. The stone is difficult to read but the stone is sooooo interesting. I have attached the pic. I hope someone finds it meaningful and if they can figure it out put it to the other message board to which it belongs.

I have the parents as Alvah Tennant and Ava Lewis. I hope this helps. I'm their great great granddaughter.
