I am thinking that we may have some of the same family. I am looking for anyone with the last name of Tekavec. My grandmothers name was Mary Tekavec. She was born in 1917, passed in 1967. She had 4 brothers, Frank, Joesph, Edward, and Matthew. Mary's parents were named, Agnes and Mathew Tekavec. I was told growing up that her parents came from around Slovenia because that is the language they spoke. I know that most of the family was from the PA area like, Rices Landing, Union Town, and Dry Tavern to name some.
If anyone has any information about the Tekavec family please write.

There was a Beer Garden owned by a Tekavec in the 1940's, 50's, etc. in Collinsburg, PA along the Youghiogheny River, about a mile from West Newton, on the other side. Collinsburg was also known as Dutch Town. I don't know what township that was.

My mother's Maiden name is Tekavec. Her father is named Joseph Tekavec. Her grandparents moved to America from Slovenia. They built a big house where all of her aunts and uncles and her father grew up in. Her grandmother died before she was born, I believe. Her grandfather died when she was 6-7 years old. Her father died the year she was pregnant with me. I also know there is a book that was published a year after I was born with 100 years of the Tekavecs. Let me know if this sounds anything related to you and your family.

Hello, I have census records that state a Matt (Mathew) Tekavec had a previouse wife (Frances) who he had at least 3 children with that I know of, Edward, Anthony, Albert, there seem to be others but I have no solid information. In the records that I have found Matt was born in austria in 1879, in the 1930's him and Frances parted ways. Frances re-married my great uncle John Bedanich, who had 2 brothers, Steve Bedanich (my great grandfather). I have more information if any of this is interest to you. I have the records attatched to my family tree.
