Hi Mary! Glad to hear from you!
Glen Roosevelt Swart was Millard Fillmore Swart's brother.
Millard was the son of Seymour Swart and Juneta McGriff and was born March 12, 1897 in Hutchinson, KS.
He married Tressie Gladys Jennings (b. 28 Oct 1901 outside of Dixie, Pawnee Co., Indian Territory, OK) in Ft. Worth, TX., August 6, 1921.
Millard was a Dr. of Optometry and, as far as I know, was the first Optometrist in West TX. He and Tressie moved to Slaton, TX shortly about 1923 and he "rode the circuit" of small West TX towns in his Model T Ford and his lens case.
They moved to Lubbock, TX in 1923 and he build a thriving Optometric practice and became mentor to many of the young graduate Optometrists of the decade.
Millard is credited with aiding in the establishment of the College of Optometry at the University of Houston and an extension program at Duncan, OK. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Millard Tressie had only one child, Chloe Maerion Swart, b. 1 Feb. 1925 in Lubbock, TX; d. 30 May 1968 in Lubbock, TX. She also was a Dr. of Optometry and worked with Millard in their Swart Optometric Clinic in Lubbock until they opened a branch Clinic in Brownfield, TX.
Millard died of a heart attack in Lubbock, TX. August 20, 1956.
Chloe M. Swart had three children, Katy Ann Farron, Joel Alan Taylor (me) and Pam Hart. After Chloe's death in 1968, Pam and I went to live with Tressie. Tressie Gladys (Jennings) Swart died June 25, 1979 in Lubbock, TX.
Kimberly Swart has an excellent tree of the Swart family at
