Surnames: Tei, Taliani, Giannini
I am working on republishing a book about PIEVE DI CONTRONE, a parish near Bagni di Lucca. It was originally written by the parish priest Elio Carlotti in 1971. If you have ancestors from this parish, please contact me. The towns included are: Pieve di Controne, Guzzano, Gombereto, San Gemignano, Vetteglia, Cevoli, Artoli. Some families came from Longoio and Mobbiano.

Surnames included: Alderigi, Angeletti, Antoni, Bacci, Barsanti, Barsi, Barsotti, Bartolomei, Bastiani, Biagi, Brunicardi, Buonamici, Buonanni, Di Nino, Giannini, Giuliani, Giurlani, Lippi, Lucchesi, Magnani, Marchetti, Marchi, Moriani, Nicolai, Petri, Pierotti, Silvestri, Taliani, Tei, Tomei

The new edition of the book will be written in English and Italian, and include family trees for the above surnames going back to the 1600's.

My family (Hancox) mostly originate from Coventry, England. A great aunt through marriage, Mary Anne Casemore married Luigi Pierotti (born 1877 in, I think, Florence but possibly Lucca or Vetteglia). Luigi and Mary lived in Coventry and had six children Conchetta, Connie, Vittoria, Sarah, Nozita and Luigi. There seems to have been connections with the Gaggini family in Coventry too, there could have been a name change.
Do you have any information about this family as I would love to know what was the reason that brought them to Coventry. I would also like to know more about your book and where I can purchase a copy.
Many thanks,
Carole Wilshaw

Carole,
Do you have any more info on Luigi? I have quite a few Pierotti's in the parish (which does include Vetteglia), but no Luigi born in 1877. His parents? or even siblings? Gaggini is not a Pieve name.

Two common professions of those who emigrated were ice-cream/gelato makers, and figurine/statue makers. Were your ancestors in either of those professions?

My British geography is poor, but it looks like Coventry is close to Kenilworth - there is a family living there there that descended from Tei and Rocchi's from the Pieve di Controne area. Do you have any Tei's or Rocchi's in your family?

The book has been published (it's beautiful!)and is available in the US or Italy. If you want it shipped to England, it is $20USD per book and $17 USD for shipping for up to 3 books. Can send more details if you are interested.
If your family is from the parish, it will be a treasure for you!

Keep me posted,
Ann
